New Prague vs. Orono-Section 6 final

Post by hockeydad »

These two teams met Dec. 12. Orono took a three-goal lead into the third, but New Prague came back to tie it, only to see Orono win in overtime. Shots were 39-30 in favor of New Prague. NP outshot Orono 15-2 in the third.

Anyone who has spent much time on this board knows who I'm pulling for. What does everyone else think?

I was not impressed with Orono at all. Their semi-final game against MWT was extremely boring. There was no effort put forth and the passing was not great. NP on the other hand looked solid as they did against AHA at Richfield. No is big and will be hitting hard the whole game. Orono has the advantage that they have been in this situation and they played in the state tourney last year.
The fans on the other hand are completely different. The Orono fans don't listen and hang all over the glass, the NP kids stand one row up from the glass and stay off the glass.

I am going to say NP by 2 goals...I will now have to go and watch this game. I am not working.

I dont know. This game could go to either team. It just is gonna come down to whoever shows up to play. New Pragues Defense needs to step up. The goalie also needs to come up big to stop Orono's offense. Orono's offense and defense have to have huge games to stop New Prague. Peterson will need to show up to. He had a good game last night against Mound. But will need to really step it up against New Prague.

Orono-3
New Prague-2

I'm going with Orono in a close game despite missing persian (leg) and stickney (collarbone).....they've been here before. Semi-final game was sloppy, in my opinion, because of the small sheet (orono has olympic sheet). Although NP has the revenge factor....can't underestimate that in high school sports.

I am not sure who wins this game but to my knowledge New Prague has never beaten Orono going back to the 2000 section quarters where Jimmy K as a 9th grader ran the goalie, saluted the crowd and was benched for the rest of the game by his coach. Maybe this is the Trojans year.

Ill take orono in a close one
4-2 EN
despite losing stickney all orono will have to do is shut down #10 from NP and they should be fine. orono has better goaltending too.

HAHAHAHA! just because the team will do anything it can to get to the big show doesn't mean that they are good enough to beat a team thats has mores skills than them. and Zamman what does hanging on the glass have anything to do with a hockey game other than the fans getting kicked out. i dont see your point there

Hootie, you make a good point. This game will depend on how the NP defense are and how Palma plays. itotally agreee with you i just don't agree with your chocie on the outcome.

Zamann, how were you dissapointed with Orono's play yesterday? I guess i see the aspect that they weren't giving it their full effort and Mound beat them to a good 70 percent of loose pucks. I just think peterson and his defense will be too much for new prague.

It will be close, I just think Orono has the size and experience.

Last year orono beat faribault earlier in the year 2-1 and then they won in the section finals 2-1. Orono beat NP earlier in the year 5-4, so there fore i think orono will win 5-4. This game will come down to goaltending in my point of view, and lets just say palma is not the best in the section, and peterson arguably is.

They have to do a lot more than shut down Witty (#10)...they have some other scorers on their team besides Witty.

From what I saw, I think Mound would of won that game, but their goalie let in a few softies... and that cant happen in playoffs. Peterson did play good and probably will Fri as well.

I am giving NP the edge strictly because they HIT!!!! The killed Faribault in aggressive play, and that is one of the biggest things you have to do to a fancy team like Orono (they look too cute with all their blade holders spray painted blue  )

This is New Prague's year and hats off to them on winning last night, what a game. I think New Prague was kind of caught off guard at how well the Falcons played but the speed of NP's forwards will be too much for Orono. Also the officiating was not that bad at all last night they let just as many calls go for NP as they did for FBO.

NP will take this one by 2-3. Witty and Lapic will have huge games. I would say 3 points each. NP to state.
