Is there an interest on association or interested parties to meet with MN Hockey board over some sort of agenda/seminar weekend in the Fall?
Minnesota Hockey is contemplating such a meeting with reps from associations (presidents/whatever).
Feedback is appreciated.
Minnesota Hockey - weekend meeting with Assn reps / others
Moderators: Mitch Hawker, east hockey, karl(east)
MN Hockey has done a Presidents meeting in late Spring or summer for at least the 4 years I have been involved. Is that not the case this year? They were informative, big picture meetings for those that attended but they were not something where an association could initiate action on topics near and dear locally.
The one that was most satisfying was at the Superrink about 4 years ago. It was well attended and MN Hock spent about 2 hours defining what the 10 top issues for associations were and possible improvements.
It took some guts for the top dogs to listen to potential criticism like that and it gave the impression that they were actually looking for grass roots issues and ideas to champion.
I am not sure that any of those issues were acted upon afterwards though. Some of MN Hock's most recent campaigns were certainly not on that list.

This would be an expansion of those meetings (president meetings).
And the agenda would be driven more by the attendees then by MN Hockey.
A chance for people to 'see' MN Hockey and get information from them. And provide direct feedback on the good and bad.
Also, a chance to open dialogue and probably the most important...
introduce new people, faces, names to MN Hockey for involvement at that level - board members, committee members, contacts etc... for the future.

meeting
Elliot
i think this can be a positive thing. I for one would like to see some guidance from Mn Hockey to the accociations when dealing with many things such as recruitment ( getting the assoc numbers up) sponsorship, mite instruction, and coach recruitment.
I also would like to see Mn Hockey consider going w/ the school year as the age level. The current one of June 30 has come and gone in this era.
When do we start?

My guess it will be next fall.
But those are the exact typoe of things that would be on the agenda.
But not only assistance/guidance from MN Hockey but an exchange among the associations attending of what has worked and what has not.
