Attention Goalie Parents

Post by Puck Bag »

I received this from our High School Coach today regarding a change in goalie equipment! This was from the Coaches meeting that was held this weekend. It is a rule:

Goalie parents - The coaches clinic was last weekend and the rules have changed for goalie equipment. The rule now states...

Required equipment for goalkeepers shall include gloves, skates, stick, protective face mask, throat guard, leg pads and helmet with chin strap. The head gear should be fastened in accordance with manufacturers specifications. Dental guard is required. Throat guards must be separate, commercially, manufactured, unaltered and properly attached to the helmet face mask or neck. Acceptable throat/neck protection includes; a mask with a "flapper"-style protector attached or a mask with an extension worn in combination with at least one of the following: a separate neck guard providing throat protection or a neck guard as part of a manufactured undergarment providing throat protection (chest protector extensions do not satisfy this requirement).

That's interesting. I talked to a guy at the High School League office that stated there were no changes in goalie Equipment for this season.

That is not a change.

I'm not entirely certain but I believe the change is in regard to throat protection and that chest protector extensions are no longer allowed.

Before - an extension on the chest protector was acceptable.

You are correct. I looked into it. It is a rule modification.
