According to the MSHSL website, Orono's head coach is Arron Johnson

From what I hear Brad Ryan had lot of problems at Orono. All I know about Aaron Johnson is that he was a damn good player at Armstrong, and I'm sure he will do a good job at Orono coaching is in his blood. His dad is an excellent coach.

I found out at a meeting over the weekend that the parents and kids who werent playing much, mostly 3rd and 4th liners, pushed him out of Orono. I had the priveledge of talking to one of the assistants from last year and he said that he was a good coach and the parents were pissed that their kids werent getting fair playing time. Too bad that this has to happen but maybe it will open up a door for him elsewhere. Good Luck!

Parents.............welcome to high school hockey.

Knowing some of the folks from Orono, things weren't all that different in A Bantams. Why would it change in high school?

I hope they let the new coach do his job.

Yes, but I know from a source that he was not treating the kids well enough that the parents, and AD had to step in and say something. He had a lot of control and temper problems according to the posts written on this site last year that are not normal.

Please, don't believe everything you read here. Some of the "posts" may have been a little biased. :P

I don't know a coach in any sport that can (or should) keep everybody happy. Ok maybe legend John Wooden.....but typically no.

2 State Tournament apparences and how many coaches has Orono gone through in recent years? Maybe the tail wagging the dog?

Did you hear about the coach who won 26 straight high school state championships from Rhode Island? I am under the impression he wasn't always the nicest guy. But, he got a lot out of his kids and developed a lot of talent. Check it out

If you want to find out more about Coach Belisle from Rhode Island, go to the bookstore and buy Pride on the Mound, about the Mount St. Charles Academy hockey program. Some of the folks in the west metro would have a heart attack if he were coaching their kids...

Yea, and for some strange reason people kept sending their kids to him.

From what I could see, coach Ryan was a tad overbearing and probably a little to egotistical for a first time Varsity Head Coach. He didn't earn the kids or the parents respect as much as he demanded it. It's to bad though as he took them to back to back State tourneys. On the other hand there is no question that a handfull of parents drove him out. It wasn't a majority, but a just a handfull of loud, persistant complainers who couldn't handle how their kid faired in the mix. I'm pretty sure that Aaron Johnson will be a good coach for the kids, but the real question is will he be able to overcome the rath of those same parents when they find their kid in the same position as they were during the Ryan regime.

Just let the coaches coach, the players play and keep the parents AWAY!

for minnhocker4444 and anyone else who is trying to say brad ryan is a bad coach is full of crap. Its funny how everyone liked him until they were getting playing time and the kids from orono need to grow up because all good coaches need to be a little bit of a hard ass and thats the reason they finished fifth last year.

Rickwardo there is a difference between a Hardass and a just plain a**hole. Can anyone confirm that he lied on his resume at Orono too??? Cause I could of sworn I read an article last year about that.
