We (Hermantown) played them twice once in a scrimmage and one game.
In the game we did not play well and in the scrimmage we played them fairly even although we only scored 3 goals. Strenths are:
1. 6-7 players that are of the larger ilk.
2. Fairly skilled in all facets of the game. Seemed to be coached well and are consistent in their systems.
3. Goalie was fairly strong and sound technically.

My advice would be to forecheck relentlessly and have close puck support at all times, especially if your team is not of the larger size. Also get a forward right in front if a shot comes from the points, can be vulnerable in close. If you have speedy forwards try to beat defense to the outside.
Good Luck!

Good luck with this team. Will be tough to beat. Lots of coaching knowledge and it shows on the ice.

I think Watchdog's team will be okay.
A lot of travel and the second game of the day may hurt a little, but I still give the edge to the dog's team.

I think the edge should go to GR. Haven't seen Roseau yet, but have seen Rapids play. They're a good group with some good coaching knowledge. Guy Clairmont, Grant Bischoff, Jeff Nielson & Don Duell. Lots of youth, high school, college & professional experience there. The bigger difference is that they're relating well to the kids rather than force feeding them x's & o's. The game is still fun for those boys.

Either way, it should be a great early season pee wee matchup.

You have to remember I am biased. :D

And, yes, GR does have a great group of coaches.

In a titanic battle of 4 footers, GR beats Roseau 5-1. Dinner's on Watchdog. Sorry, Elliot, GR may be as good as advertised. Actually, Roseau did not play well and GR was so-so in my opinion. Blaine Broten was the the best player on the ice even though he was held scoreless. He created numerous opportunities for his teammates and had several great chances himself. Good luck in I'Falls tomorrow if they play. In a related story, Blaine's brother Chase led an inspired Roseau team over GR in the Moorhead Bantam Tourney. Roseau takes GR out behind the woodshed, spanking them 9-3.

How did Roseau do last night against Bemidji and earlier today at Hibbing?

i wouldnt say overrated to loud. fact is when you look at scores any of the top teams can beat another at any given time. the shots on net were 20 -19 roseau had three open breaks in the game denied plus many other quality oppertunities. gr is a very good team heavey with 94's while roseau has all 95's except two 94's and two 96's. i think this game could go either way any time these teams meet up. im thinking that will be very soon like next weekend in the moorhead tourney on neutral ice. As for the game they just played i think grand rapids goalie had the best game he really made alot of big saves at point blank. gr had alot of good chances they failed to connect on. score could have been in their favor at even a greater margin. im looking forward to this match up next weekend if these two teams can win their first games.
