Lakeville Panthers vs Elko "South" Cougars
The Lakeville Panthers (the first and only Lakeville HS) takes on South (they should be called the Elko Cougars) this Saturday Dec 15th. One of the Elko Cougar asst. coaches has been bragging up that the game will be ugly. I'm not sure what he is referring to but I guarantee that the Lakeville Panther players will come to play hockey and will not play an ugly game. Lakeville is older, bigger and wiser then the small, young Elko team. While this does not guarantee a win, I would expect the team that keeps their focus would prevail. All right you “Southies” let’s hear some comments.
FYI- this post is ment to be a challenge. Keep it clean and let’s have some fun.

I've always thought it was weird that the new school picked Cougars for their nickname. I can see North keeping Panthers, it makes sense in not having to replace logos, etc., except wedging that 'N' in there. But you'd think that the new school would have made a clean break, instead of picking what is actually a different name for the same animal. Also they keep a shade of red in their school colors. I think they should have picked green or blue and gold, or something that totally sets them apart from the old school.

South?
Cougars got beat up pretty bad by Apple Valley. Score was 6-0. I hope they can recover and give the Panthers a good game.

The game this weekend was a home game for LNHS at Ames Arena. The city of Lakeville (not the school district) who runs both rinks had the game moved to Hasse Arena which is LSHS's home rink. They took away the home ice for LNHS because they want to show off the new Hasse Arena. Now LNHS has to play LSHS twice at Hasse Arena this year. LNHS has never played there before and it is a smaller sheet of ice then Ames. I would like to know which school the city of Lakeville is rooting for. South gets the new rink and then it gets political and they get the home ice advantage all season. This just bites and is typical of government involvement.

LNHS parents and players are a great group. To bad for you.
If you could read you would have noticed the complaint is about how the City of Lakeville unfairly interfered. Most teams schedule a 50% home and away schedule. Home rink advantage is a factor. Now they get one less home game against one of their biggest 1AA rivals.
