Matt Niskanen

Post by mainefan »

There is a nice article on Matt Niskanen of the Dallas Stars on their web site www.stars.nhl.com. He is someone our kids should be looking up to. He "developed" the right way and is now being rewarded. The entire state of Minnesota should be singing his praises.

It is a nice article and he is doing quite well - he looked great against the Wild the other night. He was a heck of player in hs and I am glad I got the chance to see him against Mayo a few years ago.

He did develop just nicely playing hs hockey, then 2 years and done at UMD. Man did he get better between his freshman and sophmore years at UMD!

Speaking of the D-word development - nothing develops a player more than being a rink rat! Get out and play some old-time shiny hockey and you will get better. Combine that with some sort of work ethic, less video games, less fast food, less time texting and working on your Myspace page and players would be amazed how good they could be.....

Keep up the good work Matt - Minnesota is proud of you.

I hate when people ask all the time what does stuff like that have to do with Minnesota High School hockey. He played here, is playing pros, and didnt leave for juniors! I have no problem with it being on here. It say Matt Niskinan on the topic and most people that follow hockey here knows who that is. So if you don't like that it has nothing to do with high school hockey then well....Dont click on it. Props to Matt its good to see how well he is doing.

nipe 6, then 1/4 of these posts should be banned because they have nothing to do with high school hockey. It seems that people respond to all these posts about players and where they are going and how they develop etc.. why is it so bad to follow up on an exceptional Minnesota high school hockey player ? Jealous much?

Nice to see Matt score a goal against the Wild tonight in front of two bus-loads of fans that went down from Virginia to watch him play. Better too see the Wild win the game 6-3 though. :D
