Duluth East @ Elk River 1/3/08

East had a rough outting at the Schwan Cup, but its a new year, time for the Hounds to bounce back against a struggling Elk River team.

I think East should take this one easily

East: 5, ElkRiver: 0

Forgot to add my take in the first post. I'm new to this site so don't rip on me too much.

The Hounds win 5-1. ER seems to be struggling this year and Duluth East has a good team once again.

Okay, quick piece of advise...watch out for EmpireStrikesBack. He's been known to feast on newbies. Now, you being an East fan, he might give you a pass (though I doubt it), because he fancies hisself a Board Moderator one day. So we dangle that carrot from time to time. Image

Now, about the game; I hate those games which "East should win easily" because there are too many examples of them getting bit on the butt. I don't think Mike will let them take anybody (especially in 7AA) lightly so they'll be ready. Thing is, Sarsland has a way of pulling such games out from time to time.

East by one.

Hopefully East will revert to pre-Schwan Cup form and control an Elk River team that seems to be on a downward trend. And from what I've heard, Randolph is not letting them take this one lightly. I'll say East 6-2.

This has been the start for the past years when East went on a 11 or 12 winning streak lets see if they can do it again with a win in ER

Best to Randolph

Post by timmyo »

If that's true, I wish the best for Coach Randolph's speedy recovery. He's one of the good ones, and I know he and Tony Sarsland respect and like each other. East-Elks battles are always fun.

After seeing both teams play, I think it's a coin flip. East has shown both good and bad, while mostly just bad from ER. That said, it's a rivalry/section game that should go to the wire. I don't believe East is as confident as past years, especially with the Schwan's debacle. Going out on a limb, ER 4 East 3 in ot.

Houds didn't play bad at the Schwans Cup, they had one bad game against Hill, but otherwise they didn't play poorly. Goadtending has been abit off, but coop seems to be the one to get it done, hopefully beginning tonight. Rand will be fine, if not, Larry and Terry have been around long enough to handle the bench.

Your limb is broken
East wins this one, the only thing that will keep it close, if that even happens is that it's at ER.

My prediction will be the Hounds, 4-2 with an empty netter.

I think dulutheastfan is right. This is getting to be the time of year when East gets rolling.

Sarsland Lit the fire under his boys' arses.

Final Score:
Elks - 5
Hounds - 3

2nd and 3rd goal scored 1:10 and 1:40ish into the third. 4th goal was scored about 9 minutes in and the 5th goal was an empty netter shorthanded with 0:40 left.
Scoring elks were Halverson, C.Hennum, Volk, C.Hennum.
