Edina Squirt A's

Post by waylon »

Here we go!can they win Fargo? Will they lose a game?I believe the 2nd best squirt team is wayzata,as we all know Edina throttled them I think it was 9-1,In my opinion they would beat alot of Pw A teams, you cant check what you can't catch ! they are to skilled from top to bottom!!!!!!!!

Don't get to excited, i've seen them play they are good, but they are a result a lot of numbers and intense summer training. Other kids and other programs will catch up. The creme always rises to the top.

Honestly Waylon...going this deep over a group of 10 year olds is a wee bit pathetic. They have a very good group of players and a dedicated coaching group. They are certain to win alot of hockey games together over the years....leave it at that and lets not pencil in anyone off this team for the Gopher class of 19 just yet.

As I recall, Lakeville (N or S not sure) lost to this team 2-1 in the NSP tourney last weekend...not 20-1, 2-1. The Lakeville goalie played amazing and his team had a chance to win and beat the russians.

As these kids get older (obviously this is your first go round with hockey kids judging by your post) and the play gets more physical and size becomes an issue, and it will, the game changes....it just does. Space becomes smaller, speed gaps become closer, the game gets harder..not easier.

Edina squirt A..great team, one of the best squirt teams in Minnesota ever probably....Yes, annointing them the best hockey players in the USA and enshrining them into the youth hockey hall of fame..NO

In time for the Fargo tournament?

I'll take Edina to win it. They are very good.

Honestly Jancze, has anyone been talking about how good the Edina Squirts will be when they get older?

I think the discussion is about how good they are now and how it is unlikely they'll lose a game.

Who cares how good they are as Pee Wees against Pee Wees or Bantams against Bantams? Oh yeah, you seem do.

Who has said they will be good in the future? I'm guessing some of the kids will be and some will turn over.

Best of luck to the Edina Squirts and best of luck to those trying to defeat them.

Did you even READ my post Otown...geez, or did you get stuck on the future and fail to see that I clearly stated that this team is very good, even exceptional to state "may be the best squirt team ever" and will win alot of games...CAN YOU READ? Can you not decipher between acknowledgement of the present and the reality of the future? Flippin A, seriously, get over yourself...

Edina Squirts

Post by nahc »

They are squirts. Enjoy the team now!!! There is no way to tell how good the team will be once checking starts, pubierty hits, social lives get more important, school gets a LOT more difficult, etc.. The kids may be good but they would get totally beat up against most Pee Wee A teams. Has the team scrimmaged the Edina Pee Wee A team yet.......I don't think so and they shouldn't because of the age and size differance......Pee Wees is an entirely differant game.......as is Bantams, Junior Gold, High School, etc.........again, enjoy the teams success now!!!!

my guess is 96 loaded. if this team is as good as everyone says they will be a force all the way through im sure. some of the players may end up outstanding but when you over train young alot of them will peek out in bantams. may not be as good in high school.

I would have trouble believing that they would beat teams that are .500. Maybe they could beat some of the lower end teams. Not exactly sure what you meant by "alot". But, on the other hand I was surprised by the showing of the Fire 96' 2 weeks ago.

Squirt A's

Post by HockeyDadMN »

I have seen them play and I think either Edina B1 peewee team would beat them and there may be a couple B2 peewee teams out there that would beat them. They are very small and fast, but they are squirts. There are a couple that could be playing peewee B1 now, but overall they are still a squirt team.

You guys are still debating this? What an utter waste of time. They're 9-10 year olds for crying out loud.

Don't forget Edina has 6 squirt B teams with winning records and they don't just play other associations, they play against each other too. Edina is deep in talent at all levels, their 5 peewee teams, A, B1 and B2 teams are at the top of their leagues too. It seems like there is more internal competition than external, especially with the extreme level of politics that go on in Edina.

More internal competition then external huh? Well we'd better just call on the Edina program to go to the next Olympics for us then.

Those numbers for squirts, its obvious they should have gone with two Squirt A teams. The trickle down impact to the Squirt B's wouldn't have been that drastic. I wouldn't have a problem with the two squirt A teams being unbalanced. 1-15 can win it all and 16-30 can develop the kids at practice and maybe win more than they lose but it doesn't matter record wise. Most of the development at squirts is at practice so who cares about records. I feel sorry for the 16th kid having to practice with kid 95, 89, 83 etc....correction, I feel sorry for the coaches having to coach this range.
