Mahtomedi v Hill-Murray 1-12-2008

Post by Sparlimb »

Could Mahtomedi be a pesky team for H-M on Saturday? They did win their bracket of the Schwann's cup and H-M did just finish off a big rival and could be overlooking this game. I would not be at all surprised if it ends a one goal game...

HM over Maht 4-3

IMO, no. I think Hill will be way too much for the Zephs to handle. Pioneers will not overlook, just come into the game pumped and ready to roll.

Hill 6-0

Sparlimb, it is nice of you to try and give Mahtomedi some false hope, but come on...yes Hill Murray can get over confident, Phillipi can make a few early mistakes, the other Goalie can get hot.......This all happened against Tartan, but this also happened in the second White Bear game and as soon as the score became 3-1...the Pioneers woke up. True they never woke up against Minnetonka, but the only thing the Zephers and the Skippers have in common is that they're both near big milfoil infested lakes. This game will be no contest.

This is your typical "sandwhich" game for the Pioneers. They are comming off a big game with STA and have AHA on Tues. "Sandwhiched" in between there is Mahtomedi, a team coached by a former Pioneer & a team that always puts forth a solid effort against Hill. Hopefully the boys take the next step of building off the STA and continue to make improvements, rather than ride a rollercoaster. Good luck guys!

Good Point Sachishi, forgot it was a night game. I'll go with 6-3 HM then...

Sounds like a grinding game. Usually in those, your happy to get out with the win and move on and forget about it. Holy Angels is next. They are down quite a bit this year, but Hill hasn't beaten them in forver...

HM didnt play that well tonight but if they would have it could have been much worse. Mahtomedi was alright in the first period but couldnt put away anything. then the pioneers shut them down.

Earlier this year Hill crushed AHA in a scrimmage. I can't wait to see how Holy Angels answers...It will be a great game.

Mahtomedi threw a good game at Hill-Murray tonight. You need to give the coaching staff of Mahtomedi credit for their game plan. They came at Hill all night and at times it frustrated the Hill offense. Hill's defense appears to be struggling, a combination of running around and not really knowing what to do at times. 16 has been a disappointment the last couple of games & Phillipi has kept this team from getting beat with some spectacular saves in this game and the game with St. Thomas. Phillipi also should of had the shut out tonight. The only goal scores by Mahtomedi was kicked in by Hill's Singerhouse. Hill also needs to keep some of their emotions in check and not take useless penalties both 20 & 12 their captains took some silly penalties tonight. I really don't think the team has put a complete game together as of yet.
