Boofin right its about time! Cut him, revoke his scholarship, expell him, get him out of the Twin Cities so he can't infect the other players on the team any more than has already been done. I hear there are some nice apartment complexes in Madison and Grand Forks.

It was the right, proper move and will solidify a position that has been a weakness all year. They interviewed Kangas after the game and his demeanor seems like the calm and steadiness the Gophers need in their defensive end.

Wow, you really sound like an idiot.

What part makes him sound like an idiot? Did you miss last weekends games, or maybe the long range misile that suprised him against ND last year? He is a head case, always has been and will continue to be. He cant take the pressure of D1 WCHA hockey and I doubt any other college team would deal with this sort of "trama" he has caused. I know for a fact that BSU gets rid of players like this, they lose 2-3 players on occasion from each class, usually in their freshmen and soph year.

I agree wholeheartedly that he needs to lose the scholarship, expelled is a stretch a bit. Make him earn it by paying for his schooling and being a practice goalie for the rest of the year until he is needed. He has been trying to get by strictly on his talents so maybe working him to death will help him out, all while not getting school for free as well. Just my opinion.

Not speaking as an expert, but I don't think that a school can pull a scholarship mid year. It's like a semester-semester, or school year by school year deal.

I also doubt that a school ever wants to pull a schollie on it's own. (That would be bad for business, so to speak.) Probably all they can really do is get the player to quit, or renounce the schollie on their own. What they can do is not play him, and that would limit his viability to any future prospects.

He may not have lived up to his HS hype but the guy had almost 130 pts. as a college player. There are a lot of players that don't reach that many points for their career. He was not a waste.

Scholarships are for the entire academic year - as long as you are making progress towards graduation

I definitely think the message has been sent.
While I am happy to see Kangas in net, I am not giving up on Frazee.
He has to reinvent his fire for the game.
He obviously has talent, he needs to understand that talent alone will not take him any farther in his career.
I don't believe in kickin the snot out of someone when they are down.
(especially at this age level)
We will see how he responds to this when he gets his chance again.
P.S. Spehar had 393 pts in his high school and college career. (not to shabby) Gopher Blog is right on. Not many humans on the planet can match that.

correct - because many fulfilled their offensive and defensive responsibilities when on the ice and did not float around center ice waiting for someone else to win the puck for them.

I am not here to say the guy was a great overall hockey player. I am simply saying it is ridiculous to call a guy a "waste" when he contributed a good amount to his team. There have been plenty of guys come in and go (both as a Gopher and in other programs) that didn't accomplish as much as Spehar did in the college game.

If he hadn't amassed the kind of HS numbers that he did and/or had the kind of amazing state tourney performances that he did, people would have had more realistic expectations of the guy heading into college and his career performance would be seen with a more level headed approach.

What everyone fails to understand is what you accomplish at one level does not guarantee you any success at the next level. All the awards and points in the world at the HS level does not give you a head start at the next level. It provides a higher level of interest and that is about all.

I enjoyed the message, I also enjoyed watching the gophs take 3 points out of a weekend. Kangas played well and made the saves he needed to make. Both nights he stood up to the plate and swung away, got the points he could and hopefully it carries into next weekend.

If Lucia puts Frazee in the net at all next weekend it better be in relief. Not sure how you can sit Kangas after this weekend. On the flip side, I dont know how you could play Frazee after how great he has looked all year... (please note sarcasm before replying)
