Really looking forward to this battle. I know this is some kind of apalling sacrilege, but I'm a big fan of both teams. Should be exciting games with both teams young and skilled, both dealing with inconsistency, both capable of putting things together for a strong finish. Hard to pick. Specialty teams will be key as I imagine WI will be hitting to slow down the faster Gophs. The Badgers have not been good on the power play, giving up lots of short handers and hitting on only like 17% although this might have changed after last weekend.

Saturday: 4-2 Badgers

 I didn't think that was possible to like both. You know better and still do it? Sounds like a guilty pleasure.

HUGE matchup up this weekend!

Being swept here could easily ruin national tournament hopes for either team. There will be a little bit of time to swing votes your way after this series, but would require some very stellar play (something neither team has been able to do consistently all season).

Bottom line both teams NEED at least one win this weekend if not a sweep to garner serious consideration for the big dance.

No predictions here, I don't know what to expect out of these two teams anymore. Both teams are capable of winning games this weekend...

That is the way I see it also.
Every weekend is like a new adventure.
Both are more than capable of good play, they just don't always do that.
Not many years when both are this average.

Pretty good puck movement at times.
Struggle to get out of their own end at others.
Badger goalie with some great saves.
Kangas was solid. (first goal looked kinda weak, but he was screened)
Gotta keep working.

3-1 Badgers take the first game...
Gophs with plenty of opportunities, but they'll need to get some guys in front of Connelly Saturday night. Impressed with Hoeffel, and RJ Anderson seems to be coming along very well. Unimpressed with Lucia and Barribal.
Badgers with strong moments, but lots of give-aways and maybe the most pathetic power play I've ever seen. Impressed withMcDonaugh. Turris is obviously elite, but a few big mistakes. Unimpressed with McBain, and Davies.

2-2
Much better game for the Gophs - looked dominant at times. Not much for legit Badger offensive attacks until period 3 and OT, but they manage to get two nonetheless. Exciting game with solid goaltending from each team.
