What are the facts about the National developement camp only for the Girls 17's this year in Lake Placid. I see that it is listed as 17's only on USA sight. So there is no tryouts for the 18's at all at the district level?
Any other info on this topic?

No more NDP for the 18's this year and after. Not sure why they made this decision but it is really unfortunate for the 1990 class. The 1990s had to tryout each year with another class. Last year with the 89's. With this format it was always very difficult for the younger class to get a spot as it should be. Now they changed the tyrouts by only a single class year so they only compete for a spot with their class peers. So this years Juniors only tryout against this years Juniors. And the Seniors are just out of luck. It would have been nice if they would have phased it in and not left the 90's out on the street

What about the 90's that are still juniors? I agree this is kind of a cold cut off for those kids!twowayplay wrote:No more NDP for the 18's this year and after. The 1990's need to understand that there are other opportunities they can pursue regarding collegiate exposure.jetjock wrote:Yes it is bad for all 1990's, but the juniors born in 1990 are the ones that really suffer.
The Pinnacle Girls Hockey Showcase (April 11-13) is one:

Pinnacle happens to be the same weekend as MN Hockey Phase 2 Festival for 1991's and 1992's. The college coaches and scouts have shared with us that they are excited to be able to take in BOTH events with one recruiting trip. This is a fantastic opportunity to be seen by over 30 college programs.
Prospects Womens Toronto (April 17-20) is another:

There may be others as well, the girls just need to be proactive and research their options.
And Hux has stated that USA Hockey will be inviting 34 "older" players to Lake Placid to join the 1991's:
Hux wrote:I was going through the paperwork I received at the Mass District meeting back in December and noticed a line that I didn't fully comprehend at the time, pretty much thinking it referred to the National Women's Festival.twowayplay wrote:Too bad for the 1990's they get jipped this year
Anyway, the line reads:
"There are no tryouts for ages 18-22; these players (34) will be invited from a list of known players to attend a camp in Lake Placid the same week as the 17's"
So it looks like there will be '90s and other older players attending the week of June 25-July 1 in Lake Placid after all.
