Did Edina beat AHA twice this year? If so the third time is going to be real tough, AHA 4 Edina 2.

Put a Shadow on Smith you might need two to alternate fresh legs because smith is out there all of the time and Edina wins 5-2 just keep shooting Edina.

Edina has the better team and AHA has the best player. As hockeya1a says if Edina can contain Smith they should win. If you look at AHA's record it was pretty soft. The only top 10 team they beat was BSM (sans Kate Bacon). On the other side, Edina played Top teams throughout the year with good success. Anything can happen in the playoffs as AHA experienced last year against Burnsville but I think if I were a betting man I would put my money on the better team with the better goalie (i.e. Edina).

I've noticed that Edina's main goalie for most of the year, Allison Casey, hasn't played very much at all lately - just one game in the last eight according to the MGHCA site. Have no idea why but is she the better goalie you are referring to?

Also I don't think it's any secret that Edina probably has better team depth but many times in the these big game situations the star players will rise to the occasion. In addition to Smith, Edina better not forget about Romatoski who's scored 34 goals of her own this year. Edina's top goal scorer only has 14 - I agree they've played a much tougher schedule so this is a big factor in the stats.

Romatoski is a very good player and might be a factor. I think goals scored are misleading since you have to consider Edina hasn't played many weak teams. Also, Edina's scoring is more balanced than AHA which relies on Smith and to a lesser extent Romatoski for its scoring.

As far as the better goalie, I think both of Edina's goalies are strong and better than the AHA goalie. If you look at the goalie stats. Both Edina goalies have better save percentages than the AHA goalie. This stat is even more illuminating when you consider that Edina has played a much tougher schedule (e.g. EP, Stillwater, Roseville, GRG, HM, AHA (2X), Hopkins (2X), Eagan, Blake, Breck, CDH, Cloquet, Minnetonka (2X) and Duluth).

This ain't Hutchinson, Prior Lake, or Red Wing we're talkin' about here (no offense): Edina 7 AHA 1

bensonmum, I just don't see Edina scoring 7 goals against AHA, they are not that high scoring of a team. I did a quick average for the season and it's only 3.2 goals per game. I think if they win it will be because they are able to shut AHA down defensively.

Overall this game is really tough to call, as evidenced by the almost 50-50 split amongst those voting in this poll. No matter who pulls it out, it should be a great contrast of styles and team strengths.

Guy's it was a score prediciton. I did my math you did yours. Some of us are obviously gonna be wrong. I am okay if it is my score that doesn't turn out right. I am just reading my "tea leaves." They are probably stale. Feel better now?

May be posted elsewhere, but Edina was ahead of AHA 1-0 at the end of one. The game should be just about over now - any further updates?
