I think it will be closer than 6-0. Cretin is a beatable team. Hastings' goalie needs to have his "A game" and the boys out front need to shoot the puck A LOT more. Cretin has beat them twice this year, but they only have 2 more wins than Hastings. GO HASTINGS!

CDH has also played one of the toughest schedules in the state with games vs ..

It will be alot closer than 6-0. It will be a one-goal game.

It wasn't close after the drop of the puck in the second period. I thought Hastings played okay in the first with the 1-1 score. Cretin got five goals in garbage time in the third. Don't get me wrong, Cretin was the better Raider team by far yet Hastings completely unraveled. Good luck to the guys in purple. Classy Coaches, Classy Kids...Go SEC! 8)

I was at the game. The Hastings coaching staff should be ashamed at how this team quit.. I saw Hastings earlier in the year get lucky against the Royals. Wow! has this team taken a dump the last month.. Last night they looked like a team unwilling to give anything for their coach. This is a very average Cretin team. To get beat like this again, and to play the way this team has played the last 6 weeks should be enough to get the search for a new Head Coach started. Any thoughts??

They battled hard until it was obvious that the game was over. Score was 1-1 after the 1st period.

CDH is an average team thats has played a strong schedule. Hastings isn't. Their talent level is down a bit.

The last few goals were scored with both coaches playing their lower lines and back up goalies in running time so it looks worse than it was.

Pack-Tell me you stopped at Spanky's for a drink last night and stayed a bit long. Your hung over.. Right? Tell me didn't just say Hastings really battled, did you?? How could they? Did you see the score?Come on this was the 4 seed against the 5 seed. Not the 1 vs.9. The way it sound's Hastings was in this game for the first 6 minutes, after that it was all Purple. Prince must be proud. I saw Hastings down in Rochester over X-mas and thought they were bad than. Welch must of had one heck of game plan last night as his team seems to have pulled the chute once again..I think i can hear the fat lady warmin' up. See ya Russ.

OK , OK, jackdaniels and I did celebrate a little after the game but I was OK this AM.

Look boys, you can blame it on the Coach if you want but the Hastings hockey team just doesnt have alot of talent. It doesnt take a real great hockey mind to see that.

I respect people who rip into a coach and stay with it. I like the idea that you guys wont let it go. I am the same way about Lucia.

But in the 3 games I saw Hastings play, not one player stands out in my mind. I havent heard about any player that is being scouted.

I am sure they are great kids and their parents are fine people but Russ cant make a silk purse out of rawhide.

Again, the same CDH coaches who won the AA championship in 2006 for an A size school that had been to state once before are 12-14 and a dark horse in their section. It isnt because they all of a sudden forgot how to coach.

And to coin a phrase its "Just Like I Said". The last few years prove it beyond any doubt.

So why do you continue to reference the fact that CDH is an A sized school if it is irrelevant?

Look at roseau there whole town is smaller than a lot of the AA schools with a student body between 300-400 people they won the 2007 AA state and they are arguably the best team this year

Pack- I respect your point of view. You seem like a knowledgeable hockey mind, but from a friend to friend don't start turning to the Bottle for answers. Next time you feel the need to make such a comment(Hastings battled)?? Call me, i'll walk you through it.. Seriously though, your so right. From the few games iv'e seen. Hastings has alot of unskilled players, no dought. My point is again, i'm not making light of this fact just trying to get people to understand there are some huge coaching issues down there that need to be addressed, before Welch has destroyed everything the community had. If you remember they actually won a few games earlier in the year and seemed to be on a "mini" roll, but as has been the case for several year's now. Welch's team's go in the tank at the turn of the new year..

The CDH vs. Hastings game was total domination by CDH from the start of the game. Yes the score was 1 - 1 at the end of the first but that was because Hastings goalie Jon Gleinser did as he has done all year played his tail off. CDH outplayed, outworked, outshot and developed a ton of scoring chances the whole game. CDH spent the majority of the time in the Hastings zone with a sustained pressure and fore check that Hastings could not break. CDH deserves all the credit as they came ready to play. Hats off to the team and coaching staff. Good luck and continued success in the playoffs.
Hastings does have some skilled players Ben Horsch - D (Sr) and Jon Gleinser - G (Jr) are two stand outs this season for Hastings. Hopefully their efforts will not go unnoticed.
