All Minnesota NHL Team

Post by Snap Shot »

Maybe this has been done before but here's the fantasy.

If you could put together an NHL team of current NHL players who are either from or have played H.S. or college (like Vanek) in Minnesota, could you field a competitive team?

Who would you put on a roster of 20? Could they win?

I haven't had time to look through rosters or find a list, but here's a few off the top of my head. I know I am missing a lot of guys. Help!

Forwards:

Vanek
Parise
Cullen
Parrish
Langenbrunner
Kessel
Bochenski
Pohl

Defense:
Martin
Leopold
Ballard
Nisaknen
Preissing
Johnson

Goalies:??

Damian Rhodes played goalie for Richfield and then played with the Trashers for a couple years. He was never anything special but it looks like our team needs a goalie :?

As a Polar fan I may be found a little biased here, but what about Bret Hedican? He did help the Canes win a Stanley Cup in '06.

I don't know about that... he ballooned up a little bit following the win. I don't think it can be rewarded.

Gopher fans say "blech" to Okposo for leaving the Golden Rodents in mid-season.

Fans of every other WCHA team say to include him for the same reason. Image

Some guys no one has said. Drew Stafford, Jack Johnson and Jonathon Toews all played at Shattuck. Lundin (AV) played in the young stars game this year, and Sauer (Apollo?) has been solid for a few years now. Im pretty sure Patrick Eaves played at Shattuck too.

With this team we could put Adam Hauser, Steve Debus in net. Hell bring Stauber out of retirement he's only 40.

One thing is pretty clear here..... Why can't Minnesota produce better goalies? Casey and Rhodes? That's it? C'mon. Even this year in high school, how good is this year's crop? Phillipi, Caschetta, Lee. Do they just appear good because of the talent in front of them, or are they really good? Hopefully Kangas and Stalock, like mentioned earlier, can be added to the NHL list.

First off, i don't think its that there aren't any good goalies, the best in the state left this year to play more games and better competition, so they develop faster, also as you may or may not have noticed there are alot of goalies from Finland, the reason, they train alot different then the rest of us, they are athletes first not a normal one either, they could probibly make a living playing a different sport.

but it is a true fact not many come from Minnesota

Since there isn't any other goalies in the NHL.
I suppose how about John Curry? Not sure how good he is doing with the Penguins AHL team.

I'm not sorry. Yes it has been a rough season for the hockey team but the football team has improved & the baseball team will be great. NSP's legion team will be loaded this year.
