Bemidji had very good bantam teams from 1994 to 2001. IN 2000 they played inthe MAHA state and won the VFW state.

In the 70's they made several trips to the HS state tournament and were very good in the early to mid 80's. In 1986 many thought they were the best HS team in the state - took consolation.

Right now Bemidji has a group of hard working 8th, 9th & 10th graders with some talent.

The peewees suffer a little with their size and being young (late in the year births). The A's made very good progress during the year with Coach Huewe. The squirts have good coaching and are doing okay, but not a powerhouse group (they may eventually be championions as they have qulaity coaching).

But, yes, there are good things happening in Bemidji, but remember, hard work is the key to success.

Jacks Hockey:

Please enjoy one of my favorite quotes:

"Tis better to remain silent, and thought a fool than to speak up, and remove all doubt" Abraham Lincoln

Here are some words of advise that I hope you take very seriously kid:

Grasshopper, the game of hockey is about respect. Respect for your coaches, your teammates, and your opponents. Although you may have beaten the Ram thrice, you do not appear to respect the Ram. The Ram is best left respected for the Ram has earned the right to be. The Ram has proven itself consistent over time. Hard working, diligent, and prideful. Do not make the Ram angry by showing disrespect. Give the Ram respect, and the Ram will give it back tenfold.

Moral: Do not think JH that you have accomplished a thing yet. While Bemidji has worked hard and are a talented bunch, you can not accept that as true success and it does not yet lend itself to being classified as a powerhouse. The team you mention in your words of gloat come from a town that has been known as a powerhouse for decades prior to your arrival on this planet. Give them respect and appreciate your successes. Even if Bemidji were to win the State Championship in Bantam A this year, we would have a ways to go before we can consider ourselves the "new powerhouse of the north".

Please do us all a favor and remove your post, keep working hard, and respect your opponents.

P.S. Although I reference the Ram, you must respect all who you face. Remember, they are trying to beat you just as much as you are trying to beat them. It does no make sense to give your opponent the gift of an added incentive.

I dont know if I would call them a powerhouse of all northern minnesota, but they are improving over everyone else in their district. In the next few years, we could see Bemidji dominate district 16, and their section in high school.

Uh, I think the Roseau and EGF PWA teams might beg to differ.

But, time will tell.

Hats off to the Bemidji Bantam A team and good luck to all D16 entrants.

Dominating highschool/section are you talking A or AA. Moorhead and Roseau are both AA.

2cents,

Although I only mentioned the Ram, the Potato is also worthy of respect. While the Ram is consistent in its appearance, the Potato appears in many forms and is worthy of trepidation. When cut and boiled in fat, the Potato can burn. When fried in butter, the Potato can fatten. When mixed with gravy, the Potato can harden. Oh yes, do not take the Potato lightly, for it is solid.

It is my understanding that after the Moorhead player scored the winning goal in overtime last Sunday against Bemidji, he skated over to the Bemidji fan section, and proceeded to mock them with some type of hand to ear gesture, indicating that he had just shut them up. I was not there to see it first hand but, if that is the case, it was a classless act. Moorhead is an excellent team deserving of the victory and with many fine gentlemen on the team. The actions of one do not speak for the many however, they do inspire. So...this is for the Moorhead player who unwittingly chose to mock.

Hashbrown, did you not read my words of respect? Respect for your team, respect for your coaches, and respect for your opponents. You must always do so. Even in celebration after an inspiring feat. Even after the mightiest battle. While you may have burnt the Lumberjacks' fingers, your actions have only awakened him from a long restless slumber. Do not awaken the Lumberjack when he is restless for the restlessness indicates that he is hungry. Woe to thee who willfully volunteers to satisfy the Lumberjacks' hunger. For everyone knows that the Lumberjack has a mighty appetite and ancient lore teaches us that his favorite meal is flapjacks. Potato flapjacks. No hashbrown, do not awaken the Lumberjack, for he is hungry.

Not only do the players who mock their opposition need to learn respect, but also the parents who made snide comments. Obviously the sprout came from the potatoes! What I learned is that the spuds could have presented themselves as a fine cuisine to admire after an exceptional battle of hungry appetites but instead, the spuds left a bad bad taste in mouth. When they serve up their platter again, I hope that they do away with their tasteless ways!!!

it was one classless act that has been addressed by the coach and parent. he is a first year player that just scored the biggest goal of his career and his emotions got the best of him. The mhd coaches apologized to the bemidji coaches and I bet it won't happen again. It was a classic game and the next one on Saturday will probably be the same.

Pretty confident that the kid will change his ways after being spoken to. Very happy to hear the behavior didn't sit well with the Mhd coaches. ~ To apologize is classy. Now . . . if the parents would just behave themselves!!!!

Good luck to both teams! Kids go out there and play hard and parents go out there and cheer your heart out for the kids you love!!!!

Parents can be bad or good from anywhere.

If they screw up a 100 word essay on HEP before they can get back in any arena.
