1AA...Lakeville South

Post by CrossbarandIn99 »

For the sake of the state tourney, hopefully south has what it takes to get to the tourney. after looking at all the teams and previous opponents, it seems they are the only team that would have a legit chance at winning a game. They have a few goal scorers from the games ive seen, and they goaltender is as good as any.

They beat Rosemount, tied Eastview and Jefferson, and played EP very tight.

North is the only other team to register a win against a top 20 team (EP)...It seems the Rochester teams cant hang with the top 20

Im a North guy, but it seems that South is the only thing close to a legit contender in this section come state tourney time.

whoever comes out of this section is probobly going to get embarassed at the state tournament... especially with the seeding: they'd end up playing either Roseau, Edina, Minnetonka or Hill Murray. Pick your poison.

If they do make it, and face the number 1 seed, yumu(the goalie) will be able to show what he's really got.

this section is possibly the worst section i've ever seen. they should all just hang up their skates now cuz whoever makes it to the big show is going to go 2 and out. i dont know why they didn't send rosemount or a team like that to that section whent they remade them last year. instead we have a bunch of sections like 2AA with 3 or 4 teams that could easily beat whoever wins this section. nice job mshsl board with whoever chose the sectoins this year.

I hope South comes out of this section since someone has to.

South wouldn't get embarrassed at State. They probably wouldn't win it, but they've proven they can bunker in against good teams and hang around. With any team that must defend to win, it starts in the goal and South is solid between the pipes.

i like how everyone is assuming those will be the top 4 seeds. you dont even know if those 4 teams will make it yet! what about benilde or jefferson or AHA or burnsville or hopkins. you never know come playoffs and i am not ready to count those teams out yet.

I think everyone was saying the same thing about section 1 AA last year. Even Lou on TV said that Hill got the easist first game of the tournament. Didn't Century pull the upset and end up getting 3rd?

I think that seeds 1-5 will be able to hang in and not get embarassed at state. The other teams at state will come in cocky, and be scared when they relize they have to play a game.

Whoever wins this section will be fine at state. 1-5 all have pretty good goalies, south has the best.

We will see in about 2 weeks.

Minnetonka played lakeville south 12/11/07 at Lakeville South (1AA) and won 6-0 if that means anything

section 1AA is awful, i predict that lakeville south will win it, but I will guarantee that whoever makes it out of 1AA will lose their first game, and most likely go 0-2.

yes 1AA is by far the worst section. it is not even a contest. however, i do not think they will go to state and get blown out. they play a very difficult schedule and have only been blown out something like twice (burnsville and minnetonka). they also have some impresive games under their belt such as a win against rosemount, an ot loss to eden prairie, and a tie against eastview. also they are hot. they lost to burnsville 7-2 early in the year, then played them very tightly the second time (even though score was 6-3). Lakeville will not win state, and possibly go 2 and out, but i think the odds of them getting blown out are not as big as people think.

Century did a nice job. I think whoever goes should lineup with the intention to take it to the other team and if they can win the first one they may not be stopped...

Good luck to all the boys in Section 1AA and let the best team win.

When a representative is decided go to the state tourney with the mindset that you are going to win some games..

Good luck and bring it....

I like your confidence, but the fact remains Section 1AA is nothing like last year. Last year Dodge Co (who is right now beating up on JM, by the way) was the 8th seed with a 22-4 record. Century was undefeated in the Big 9 (and the Section, for that matter) and finished 20-5. Even JM was kinda up there. This year. Forward to this year, every AA team in the Big 9 has at least 3 losses in the conference...Century pulled off a 8-15-1 record, having only Mayo (x2) and Apple Valley as their "quality" wins. Mayo was inconsistent all year, showing promise in some games and ugliness in others. North and South couldn't compete in the Lake very well and neither team really beat any other section team very decisively, with the possible exception being North over Mayo. Last year's best record was 20-5, this year Owatonna took the crown with an 18-7 record.

Given the facts for 06-07, people should have actually seen Century was a really legit contender. This year? Seems very doubtful any 1AA team can contend.

I wouldnt say that whoever comes out of 1AA is going to get killed but I would say a few of the teams that could come out could get crushed.

Lakeville South-yeah they beat Rosemount late in the year and are very hot. they have the goalie to pull an upset and they also play the kind of style that slows down those high flying attacks i.e. Burnsville, Edina, etc. They forecheck hard and are very physical. I wouldnt be surprised to see a good game with LS and anyone.
Owatonna-I havent seen them play but from what Ive heard they are decent. They dont have a ton of big skill guys but they get the job done as a team. I cant see them doing anything at state.
Lakeville North-WHAT is up with this team. They beat EP one night and now they are on a 7 game losing streak. They have two solid to okay goalies that can play well and can play crappy. They have found a few line arrangements that have been working also. They could surprise some people but they need to start playing alot better.
Mayo-kind of like LN, up and down all season. I saw them get handled by LN and Yaggy looked very bad. I havent really seen a game where Yaggy look that good although Ive tried to find one because of the hype. They may be able to hang with some people but doubtful they win.
Century-I dont think they are a very good team. They dont have a lot going for them. They are no where near the best team in this section and I just really hope they dont win it.

All in all LS is our best bet to get us a win. After that maybe LN with a hot goalie and a few breaks or maybe Mayo if they play REALLY well.
