Private Schools at State

Post by DubCHAGuy »

Without getting into the whining about these teams being good, can someone who is a fan of each of these teams post a break down of where the kids played their youth hockey?

A
Blake
SCC
Marshall- I know a few years ago most were from the East area
STA

AA
Hill-Murray- I read on another thread they are about 1/4 Woodbury and maybe 1/4 Stillwater/Lake Elmo/Afton, and the rest are spread around.

PRIVATE SCHOOLS AT STATE

Post by hawkeynut08 »

I DON'T AGREE. EVERYONE KNOWS ST.CLOUD ONLY HAS 1 YOUTH HOCKEY ASSOC. HOW MANY OF THESE KIDS JUMPED SHIP AND WENT TO SCC INSTEAD OF THE PUBLIC SCHOOL IN WHICH DISTRICT THEY LIVE. I THINK THE MSHSL SHOULD PUT PRIVATE SCHOOLS BACK IN THEIR OWN TOURNAMENT OR MOVE THEM ALL UP TO CLASS AA IF THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO CHERRY PICK THEIR KIDS. I KNOW THAT THIS THREAD WILL STIR THE POT BUT. IT IS WHAT IT IS. :x

Your opinions matters too. Just next time don't shout in caps. And find a thread that is more appropriate for venom.

Hockey nut I would say all but one - palusky- went to a private school at 7th grade or earlier. Probably 75 percent went private at kindergarten

Of all the Cathedral kids --

Durant went to CHS starting in 7th, Palusky in 10th, Quist in 9th, and Robak 10th. Every other kid has gone private the entire way.

Woops, forgot that about Quist and I don't anything about Robak. Thank you.

Like I have said numerous times over, St. Cloud does youth hockey and private schools differently from pretty much everywhere else. So, as they are a private school, they aren't one that people should give a bad rap to.

Private Schools at State

Post by hawkeynut08 »

Sorry for the caps. My comments are not for venomous sites. This subject is very touchy in some areas in the state. Especially the Duluth area. SCC has a great team no doubt. I stand to be corrected not knowing 100% which middle schools these boys attended. We in Duluth area are used to seeing these boys move in their Soph. or Jr. years.

I actually agree with an anti-private school person for once, they should all be moved to AA (although not because they recruit because most of the kids choose to come to the private schools because they want to play for a team that wins  ). There is no reason STA/Marshall/Blake/Breck/others shouldn't be playing at AA. Maybe then Hitler's Youth (that's what STA kids are reffered to at Hill) will realize that they aren't as good as they think they are becasue they do good in the JV tourney every year.

Anyways, to get back on track, a lot of the kids from HM come from Woodbury, but there are also some from White Bear, Afton, Mounds View, Stillwater, Lake Elmo, NSP, and St. Paul although there might be others that I forgot...

Agree with George
The entire Cathedral team, with 1 or 2 exceptions, came through the St. Cloud Parochial School system. Palusky, 1 of the exceptions, recently moved to St. Cloud

Thats what I thought too, but thought there's no way that could be true this year with how good all of those teams are. Talk about numbers...

I think quite a few of the Hill kids played for the Wisconsin Fire.

The backup goalie lives in woodbury, but i'm pretty sure he moved from California for his sophmore year.

That is pretty impressive now that I think about it!
I actually have no idea how many of these private school kids recently transferred in (freshman year and later)as opposed to those who have gone to the school for a longer amount of time(from middle school down). It would be interesting to have that information for all of the schools
