Wes the hockey fan.....the man, the myth, the legend?

Post by Saintpaulhockey1 »

I see this guy at every high school game I go to-Edina @ Tonka, Section 2AA/6AA/3AA finals. Saw him again at the tourney today. Ran into him last night at the A banquet and he said he has gone to the past 40 or so banquets, he also mentioned he didn't have a car. How does he do it? All I have to say is that he might be the greatest high school hockey fan in the state and always enjoy getting a knuckle pound from him when I see him. Who doesn't? Anyone have further insight on how he became a high school hockey fanatic? Play in the state tourney? Great guy and look forward to seeing him the next couple of days at the X!

Wes is indeed a living legend. People were discussing him in a thread on here about a few days or so ago.

He takes the bus and always has the paper with him. I also saw him on the sidelines when Cretin was in the state tourney for football. He really gets around. He knows his stuff.

Big Wes is the man! Always there to cheer you up with a nice fist pound. He loves high school hockey along with some other sports. I have seen him around at some big high school baseball games around the metro as well. With how much he knows about high school hockey and how many games he attends I am suprised he hasn't tried to become a scout and make some money off of it. Cheers to Big Wes!

Ahh WES! I didn't know he was THIS known. I'll see him pop up and any high school game that's playing in the state, probably about 10 games I ATTEND each year. I even saw him once at a Cretin vs Totino Grace BASEBALL SCRIMMAGE. And he always is there throwing down his knucks for a nice pound. He also seems like one of those guys that always remembers you. What a great man who is long overdue for any sort of tribute or recognition.

I have paid for his ticket when he gets a ride out to watch the Elks or Anoka. Just make sure you give him some gum before you talk with him. Wes is a high school legend.

I am sure many of us have great stories. Yeah also see him with that Sweens guy from Cretin a lot. I guess if he likes Edina this year and followed Cretin in football....loves to jump on the bandwagon!

oh and yeah definitely need to give him some gum when talking to him-horrible coffee breath!

Game on in thirty!

Wes is arguably one of the best men to talk to if you the down low on high school. You can talk about just about any team and he can name players and coach and include stats in your conversation.

Wes knows his stuff, as advertised in BLADES OF GLORY, but is a bit of a bandwagon fan - not that there is anything wrong for him. Great guy, oodles of respect for this hombre.
