Players you were impressed with at Tourney

Post by saintpaulhockey »

There are the obivous choices, but how about some guys that came in under the radar a little bit and proved themselves to be elite level players. I thought Furne, Sova and Dolan from Hill elevates their status, as did Landman from Roseau and Bergland, McCarthy from BSM and Goff from Woodbury. I'm missing others I know but what did you all think?

I'd say the entire Benilde team elevated their play. They had a win over Edina during the season and upset Minnetonka in sections, but I don't think a lot of people gave them proper credit for how good they were. They belonged in the top 4 conversation and they may very well have helped Hill by taking the #3 seed...

I'd add Brandon Wigen, goalie from Woodbury, to the list. 42 saves vs. BSM and 39 today vs. Blaine. He was very impressive.
Everyone hates private schools (and Edina)!!

They ended up with wins over DM, Edina, Tonka, Shattuck, Roseau, and Woobury I believe... I agree with you that this team didn't get the credit they deserved. Now on-topic... I think Landman and Goff improved their reputations the most this weekend. However, it would've been nice to see Goff against some more of the top teams...

All the Hornets!!

(What can I say? I'm proud of my hometown boys.)

Seriously, though, the non-Hornet I didn't previously know much about who impressed me the most was Bergland.

Gleason in Edina's first game was really impressive and I thought Landman was great also. Star of the tourney.....Flip. Agreed that Hill surprised me with the way they played the 3 game series. Awesome hockey.
