Waiting around Excel for the Refs to decide if the Roseau goal would stand (tick tok) than to have the Ref signal goal.... the crowd goes nuts. Only to have the Off Ice Official kindly remind the referee that it was disallowed, quite a turn of events to take in live in St. Paul. Not seeing any replay on it at all and not arguing the call it just would have been a hell of a game the last 10 minutes had it gone 3-2. And now will be talked about for years to come as a wild turn of events in our great annual Minnesota tournament.

Ditto....and the HUGE hit in Warroads first game..#22 for Warroad laid a big hit on someone and pretty muched KO'd himself...it was pretty sweet

The ref did not signal goal. He pointed to the spot where the faceoff was going to be, however he should have waved off the goal first.

I almost forgot about Ryan Furne's goal from outside of the blue-line with .1 second left in the first period of the championship game. That's got to rate in the top 5.

Simply put: Seeing the Cathedral Crusaders play at the tourney.

Many people don't know much about them...all they know is that they got kicked pretty good in the Semifinals...

But this was an extremely young team with only four seniors. It was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the team as they had just graduated 14 seniors.

So, as they may not have gone as far as they'd have liked in the tourney. They certainly overacheived all year...which they should be proud of.

Look for them to make some noise again next year...

Without a doubt the most exciting game in the Tourney, and is the one I will remember the most. Both teams played extremely well, using all of their skills with excellent decision-making all over the ice. All the great play combined with the record crowd and electric atmosphere made it one of the best semi-final games that I can ever remember seeing.

May have been a good game but Best? That may be left to 1996 Apple Valley v. Duluth East, 5 overtimes...that was nuts. We were leaving when East Scored with little time left in the 3rd...then quickly returned to our seats for the marathon.

I would have to say phillipi posting a shutout in the state championship game. It was great to see this kid succeed after taking so much criticism for the losses in his previous two state tournament appearances. Its a team game and a lot of people blamed him for the grand rapids loss and the century loss last year. Its good to see him end his career on a high note.

Sorry if I wasn't clear...I would agree with you...except for the fact that the East vs Valley game was a Semi-Final game.

Public versus Private argument aside, the reason this tournament was memorable was because it held what almost every fan hopes in their heart to see. A team that was not considered a favorite transcending their place in the hierarchy of teams to convincingly beat the universally recognized top 2 teams and win a title. That is the hope every fan goes into sections with, that their team will find themselves on a hot streak and be able to overcome all they face. It happened to be my squad this year, which makes me very happy. Now the hopes begin anew and maybe it will be your squad next year.

My most memorable moments were those where I had no interest in some of the “A” games, especially the championship. For many of you, Wednesday and Fri/Sat afternoons are an afterthought. Heck, if my roots were in “AA” I’d probably view “A” as a second class citizen too.

Since 1992, I have always enjoyed the lower class games, but this year that interest was absent for many games. With that being said, I do not trumpet the cause of restricting some teams from competing but I inevitably have the right to take or decline interest in the games they play.

Unfortunately for me, I don’t see “A” being anymore interesting next year, nor within the forseable future.

in General my favorite part of the tournament is the Tournament itsself, Nothing Beats The Best Teams in the State Gathering at the Xcell Center to duke it out for Boys Hockey Supremacy, Gotta Love that.

That is correct. After talking with the linesman who was lining that game personally, it turns out that the supervisor upstairs had told the ref not to give the washout signal, but to point to where the face-off would be at.
