THREE PEAT

Post by FREDFLINTSTONE »

After pulling off the back to back last year, will the Eden Prairie Bantam A's pull off the back to back to back?

These same kids were the PeeWee A champs as second years weren't they?

Not the same group. The back-to-back group are a year ahead and have 7 or 8 really good players... this years group should be solid 1-15 but don't have anywhere near the goaltending as the group ahead of them. Also EP has new coaching staff coming in. Good luck to all.

You are giving too much credit to players 1-15.

skaters are very good, but the goaltending maybe average or below average for bantam A ... i hope they repeat, but goaltending maybe a issue.

I watched a number of the Centennial games this weekend. It is certain that there will be no THREE PEAT for EP this year. :( In fact, they will be lucky to win three games in a row.

Are we talking about EP football or hockey for the state "ship? From the scores from EP games this past weekend I can see where there may be some confusion.

EP is trying to dupe teams until playoffs. So who do you think will be in the ship with them?

Even unranked northern teams are having their way with EP this weekend.

It appears that the tenders are in over their heads and the skaters are average; bad combination.

EP is a average team at best this season. Average in the state and below average in their district. Granted they do play in a very competitive D6, but the fact that they are given credit in the rankings from LPH is beyond me. When you go an entire month w/o winning a game there are clearly problems.

Question: What bantam a team has lost more games than any of the 95 teams ranked by mnhockeyrankings.com?

Hint: it's not #58 Prior Lake

Answer: Eden Prairie
Record = 12-22-1

Hard to call this average

Let's Play Hockey has really got this one wrong

Agree that 22 losses for a team ranked in the top 20 is pretty high....but Eden prairie doesn't schedule for record. Only 8 games against non ranked teams...they are definately above average but not the machine that is expected from EP bantams.

Rankings are so messed up. There are many teams that are barely .500 or below and they are in the top 20. Yes, they are playing good teams but think about it. Northern teams never get credit. Roseau played great last weekend and put up some fights in their tourney along with rapids.
Hermantown 13-7 and ranked 30th in mnhockeyrankings that is a joke. They are a great club and deserve way more credit than given.
Hermantown Hawks
Elk River #23 lost
Proctor #85 win
Hibbing #63 win
Rosemount #34 lost
Superior (lost to DE 9-0) win
Brainard #47 win
Virginia #60 win
Grand Rapids #26 win
Cloquet #61 win
Green Bay (lost to DE 9-0) win
Chaska #20 tie
St. Cloud #38 win
Minnetonka #9 loss
DE #1 loss
Eveleth #94 win
Virginia #60 win
Andover #48 win
Forrest Lake #32 loss
Fort Francis AA tie
North Metro #27 loss
Proctor #85 win
Rice Lake (0-2, outscored 16-5) win
Record 13-7-2
With the exception of the victory over GR, and the tie vs. Chaska, they have not beat a team ahead of them. But, (Forrest Lake, Rosemount) have lost to teams ranked below them. The ties vs. Fort Francis AA, and the loss to Green Bay aren't impessive either. Strength of schedule needs to be taken into consideration. I know you can't do anything about the teams in your district, and the season is far from over, but looking at this, consider #30 fortunate, Yes??

I diasagree. That is what people said about grand rapids's Peewee A team last year. Yeah, they didnt play the toughest schedule but they were probably the best team. They got state runner ups and in the state championship they out shot edina 4 to 1. They dominated the game but didnt bury their oppurtunitys but were by far the best team in that tournament.
I'm sorry, I thought we were talking about the Hermantown Bantam A team. But, I am glad you got one more opportunity to talk up the Grand Rapids team. Yes, they had a nice run in the tournament last season. But to say they were the best team, even thought they didn't win, is a stretch.

"They outshot Edina 4 to 1"

I did not see the game, but I find this extremely hard to believe. So if Edina got 10, GR got 40??? Or if GR got 30, Edina only got 7-8 shots the whole game?

Come on...

Hattrick,
I thought the same thing, so I looked. The shots were actually 42-24, Grand Rapids did outshoot them significantly, but alas, not 4 to 1.

That sounds more like it...another thing, "total" shots can be a very deceiving stat..how many of these were "quality" shots versus pucks thrown softly at the net for easy saves?

It could be that while Edina had fewer shots than GR, they may have had more scoring chances. I didn't see the game, so I don't know.
