Any news on the 95 fire hockey club?

The Fire program is in a regrowing process. There is a new full time leader who wants to provide a quality option for players who choose that venue to play in.

The 95 group has been changed though, so the team isn't the same group that went to nationals last year.

There are 3 former 95 players attending Shattuck St Mary's and doing very well.

Otown, I can only tell you this, my son loves the school and wouldn't trade it for anything. His quote is along the lines of "even if I never played a game of hockey, I would never leave this place".

It's just a different lifestyle for the kids that go there. He loves it and so do all the kids I've talked to. HIs day is extremely structured and he's even said there's not enough time in the day to be a student at Shattuck. Your day is just full. He is thankful he has mandatory study hall every evening and he uses every bit of that 1 1/2 to work on school.

They do have B S time though after hockey and after study hall. I'm just thankful we're right up the road and can accomodate small issues.

Anyone who doesn't have a child that attends Shattuck that passes any judgement on the school honestly has no idea what the school is about. Hockey is just a tenth of what these kids are doing there.

It's freaking raining and sloppy here, how's the weather in FLA?

Hows the buzz about the Rays by the way? You didn't dare buy your boy a Rays hat in place of his Twins bill did you?

Didn't we hash that out a million times last year. Hopefully this post doesn't draaagggggggg on and on and on about the pros and cons on the Fire. Fun teams, great coaches, great experiences..Lets leave it alone this year!!

You asked, The 95' Fire played early last month in the Wi. select 94 tournament. We won that tournament, winning four strait games. Lately we have been beating up on Minnesota Bantam teams. We are getting ready for the Nike/Bauer classic at the end of the month. Last year we lost that tournament in the Championship game 3-2 to the LA Select club. This year we are seeded number one in are pool. And it is possible that we may meet the 95' Russian Red Army National team in the Chicago tournament. As for the players on this years team, same main crew, we lost a few guys but gained some quality players. We have more depth and speed than last year. I would rate us some where in the top 5-10 Bantam teams in Minnesota. We still have 5 players who are still 12 years old. But they seem to be holding there own against the much older Minnesota Bantam players. Record last two years 75-4-2.

You're nuts. I watched the 95 Fire tie the first year Bantams from Minnetonka and for the most part Minnetonka carried the play. And the top Minnetonka kids weren't present. Top Bantam A teams in Minnesota will be mostly 1993 boys. I guess we'll see but the 1995 Fire is very small, some under 100 pounds I'll guess, and will have difficulty with top MN Bantam A teams. They may have 2-3 Bantam A players with the rest PeeWee A types.

I don't pass judgement on Shattuck, I pass judgement on a parent that would send a kid away at such a young age. I don't care if your up the street. If your kid went to shattuck and came home every night, thats great. It sounds like he stays on campus and thats the problem. Don't ever let someone else raise year kid. Good luck to your CHILD

Coach J, I may be wrong here, but I'm thinking that your statement is exactly what Janze is talking about. Sounds like you're the kind of guy who knows nothing about the value of a prep school education. Typical.
I'm going to go out a limb and say that there is a difference between being "raised" by someone else and going to a school like Shattuck St Mary's. They're not exactly raising you at high school age as opposed to helping develop the foundation you've already gotten from home.

I somewhat agree with Coach J......High School is the age the most kids need stability and leadership.......I prefer the mine learns that at home from an open minded conservative vs. some liberal teacher.

Pre-school has it's place and SSM is a great school I just don't like the idea of someone else taking up 90% of my kids life learning experiences.

I think I said if the kid comes home every night "GREAT". IF NOT THEN I have a problem. "ITSMOREFUN" TO BE A PARENT THEN TO SAY MY 12 YEAR SPENDS THE WHOLE WEEK AT A GREAT SCHOOL. Sounds like you think college should start around 12 or 13 years old and the kid should be on wall street by 18. just because something cost more doesn't mean it's worth more. Again I said if your kid is coming home everynight "Great". I didn't say don't go to Shattuck, " did I"


So if you want your kid to move out by 12 years old and have someone else making sure he/she is going to bed on time and brushing his/her teeth knock yourself out. " its your kid" Your right I don't know what it cost to have a fulltime babysitter. Typical

Further, it's revealing that "you don't care if your up the street." Why? Because the "your" in your second sentence should be you're. Finally, although you're entitled to your own opinion, you don't have the right to tell another parent how to educate or raise his or her child.

Stick to hockey, coach. When it comes to education and exercising good judgment, you're out of your league.

I think you need to go back up to how this conversation started and look how Janze5 spells judgement, before you pass judgment and how I just took his quote and responded. sorry I didn't hit spell check. I didn't know I was going to be graded on this. Thanks for all your help or is it you're help. I will really work on it teacher.
