Hi gang ..... my name is Doug and I used to run FollowThePuck.com. It went to its blog name of http://minnesota-high-school-hockey.blogspot.com/.
I helped cover boys high school hockey in Minnesota last year. I wanted to cover girls too but it was too much work to do manually. Everything had to be manually typed in.
Anyway, I am now with VarsityOnline.com. It has a nice database to put information into. I'm going to cover girls high school hockey as much as possible. The plan is to have every box score in the state on our website if the coaches will send them to us. We'll have a nice leaderboard set up so you can see leading scorers and goalies in the state.
I have about 30% of the girls hockey schedules up. I am hoping (finger crossed) that I will have a majority of the schedules in by this weekend. I started with the Lake Conference and I am working my way around the Metro area of the Twin Cities and then to the outstate.
If you are going to the games this winter, I would really appreciate it if you could text me the scores after the games are over. That way we can make sure the scores from around the state get into us as quickly as humanly possible. Submit your texts to varsityonline@gmail.com.
Lastly, if you want to help cover your team (believe me, we could use some good volunteers), please come to the site and register. Coaches, parents, alumni, fans, are encouraged to register.
Thank you ... you can email me anytime at varsityonline@gmail.com to share information that we do not have or just to say 'hi'. We'll take positive comments and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism as well.
Go hockey! My favorite time of the year ....
Doug Hagen

Why should the teams use varsity online when it continues to disappear year after year..the girls coaches have it figure out as they have their own stat program www.mghca.com

I gotta give Doug credit for doing this. The MGHCA site wasn't exactly stellar in updating scores and stats last season. The more sources the better as far as I'm concerned.Stinkin Rootbeer wrote:Why should the teams use varsity online when it continues to disappear year after year..the girls coaches have it figure out as they have their own stat program www.mghca.com
Varsity online
The MGHCA score reporting was no cupcake. The home away thing needs a little work. MGHCA needs all the teams to participate, not just some like it is now. If the coach does not want to enter it right away, find a parent volunteer to do it! I am sure that would not be a problem fort most teams. The coaches are paid to teach the girls and if they are not computer literate, then so be it. It is not bad but needs a little work. It starts right from the top of MGCHA. The EP coach was one of the worst at entering scores and stats, usually 3-4 days after the event. The thing that needs to be done, is have one site that all teams will use. That is key. No one wants to enter thier stats in 4 different websites. I say give varsity online a chance, but continue to use the MGHCA website also. It would be fabulous to have one site where you could get all the scores, maybe Varsity online will do that? We will soon find out. We are only a couple weeks from first practice, we all must be excited!Stinkin Rootbeer wrote:Why should the teams use varsity online when it continues to disappear year after year..the girls coaches have it figure out as they have their own stat program www.mghca.com
