Looks like a solid group of teams.

Question: How will you handle the District 8 teams and the Wisconsin Fire? At the District 8 scheduling meeting all D8 teams were told they were not allowed to play the Fire, even if they run into them in a tournament they are not allowed to play them or face penalties from District 8.

The 6-7 hour treck is well worth it. This is a great tournament and the legion is 50 feet away which helps with the down time between periods. Ask for Byron!

Ridiculous

Post by Tenoverpar »

Are you serious, D-8 hates the FIRE that much that they hand a penalty to a team for playing them in a tournament??? Wow, pretty ADULT pathetic if you ask me.

Isn't playing in Roseau almost about experiencing the culture of that town in the winter vs caring that you play a hockey team called the FIRE?

The trip will be worth the penalty. Go.

Hey Ram Hockey is Hermantown, Bemidji and Grand Rapids making the trip up to Ram country January 9-11, 2009 this season? If so who is registered in this tournament so far? Thanks.

Considering that 4 of the 11 currently listed teams are D8 teams (and from the stronger D8 associations), the idea of a D8 "penalty" for playing the Fire seems a bit specious. At best.

Full and correct Language from D8
Move that, no District 8 team shall be allowed to schedule a game, scrimmage or host/invite to a tournament any team that has been identified by the District 8 Director and/or Registrar as a team, with Minnesota Hockey eligible players, that has not complied with Minnesota Hockey’s waiver policy. Teams and/or associations that are found in violation of this policy are subject to further disciplinary action from District 8. This does NOT apply to the incidental playing of a non-compliant team as part of a tournament hosted outside of District 8.

The language as written looks to be a policy against Private Bantams such as STA and not the Fire. This is a bit ironic because of what happened last year with STA and District 8. Waivers are for player moves within a District, or District to District within Minnesota Hockey. The Fire teams have not "Not complied with Minnesota Hockey's Waiver Policy"

Huh? Doesn't the above contradict itself?? Saint Thomas DOES comply the Fire DOES NOT comply therefore the language applies to the Fire and not Saint Thomas

FIre

Do the FIRE have any obligation to abide by any Minnesota Hockey or D8 guidelines at all?

Do the FIRE often offer a competetive team worth playing in a tournament ?

Does every thread on the youth board have to turn into a discussion about the Fire, Minnesota Made or Bernie?

Ice,
STA Bantams B team must get waivers from all the Associations/Districts those kids are leaving and get waived into the Association/Disctict that is allowing them to form a team.

The Minnesota players on the Fire tryout for the team, if they make it they register as a Minnesota resident with USA Hockey playing for the Fire Hockey Club Affiliate in Wisconsin Hockey. Thats it, no waivers, they are not moving within a District, they are not moving to another Minnesota Hockey District. So whats non-compliant?

Ram Hockey has posted on the other board that Mankato is the 12th team. They must be pretty good - they beat New Ulm.

I can give a few second hand reports. Hopefully I have good sources telling me how things are going while I sit in the Legion. \:D/
