Section 2AA- Down the stretch

Post by northshore guy »

Down the stretch, who will represent section 2AA at this years' state tournament? Are there any dark horse teams to watch out for?

I just saw that there is already a poll for 2AA- respond to either one- sorry

anybody have a sleeper pick? I think we can all agree the Tonka and Edina are the favorites.... but Chaska has played some good teams tough and Shakopee is unbeaten in their last 9 games

I would think Holy Angels would be down a little further.

And once seeded how are the seeds matched up?

I think it looks like this....

top half of bracket
8@1
5@4
bottom half of bracket
7@2
6@3

I would switch just the last two, but does it matter............not likely. My pick to come out of this section is Tonka.

Joe- any dark horse picks? I like how scrappy chaska play- Romo from HA does not want to lose in the 1st round- shakopee is unbeaten in their past 13 and Tim and Ep know what it takes to get there.... lots of hungry teams

I agree with your observations about hungry teams, etc. and will also add that given the time of year for sections you never know what teams might have sickness going through the locker room. Hopkins has some right now so hopefully it won't be an issue come Sections. Both Edina and Minnetonka have had several games with only a goal or less, so a scoring drought could also come into play.

I wouldn't send them to St. Paul yet.... they are good but playoff hockey is an entirely differnet kind of hockey...

I think this might be one of the least predictable sections. You are right about Edina and Tonka being favored. But there is alot of fire in the bellies of EP and Shako. I also think Chaska has the potential to put up a battle. I haven't seen an AHA game so not sure there.

It is going to be fun to watch! (I hope :D )

I think this is about right! it looks like Shakopee is doing well as of late not sure if they would be able to finish off the top two but you never know.

Eden Prairie just defeated #9 Proctor/Hermantown/Marshall in a 2-1 upset. It was a great game and if the girls keep playing like that...who knows what might happen!

I think Bloomington Jefferson has a chance at the 2AA title. They have been playing really good in the past few games.

I think in the next round we will see EP vs Edina and Shako vs Tonka. Wouldn't it be awesome to see EP vs Shako for the section title NSG? :D I think these 2 teams have a ton of heart.

I don't think Edina or Minnetonka would think it so awesome if Shako and EP were playing for the Section 2AA title. Edina and Minnetonka have a ton of heart too. They also have fought through the toughest schedules in the State this year (per KRACH). IMO the State Tourney would be better off if the best teams made the tourney and I think it will be either Edina or Minnetonka representing Section 2AA. There's always a chance for an upset and everyone loves a David vs. Goliath story but IMO Edina and Minnetonka will be playing for the right to represent Section 2AA.

All the teams have a ton of heart.. BUT that would be sweet!! Shakopee is playing well, 14-0-2 in their last 16 games... who know but teams will be ready to play...

Now this is the reason I think it would be great if two teams from each section could advance to state. because both are good teams and both deserve to go not just one.
