Good luck to him, sounds like he has had a very tough time. Where did Duke play his youth hockey?

Edina. He played Edina Bantam A earlier this season before he went to Hill. My prayers are with Duke and a healthy recovery.

O.K., so you made the effort to visit this "thread" - go one step further and click on the caringbridge site and read. Read about Duke, read the posts from his supporters, and wish him well.

Classy move by H-M coaches as they have kept his name on the roster. Also noticed that the players are wearing his #24 on their helmets.

Johnnyquest I think most people did go to caringbridge, they just don't feel they should post on a site that seems to be for friends and family that is why they are saying their well wishes here.

From a friend...

"Hi Hockey Fans! We are holding a benefit for Duke Pieper and his family on Friday February 13 from 7-10 pm at the MN Made Ice Center in Edina. Duke is the Edina player that made the Varsity Hill Murray team but never got to start the season as a result of death threatening brain surgery. He still remains in ICU after 6 or 7 weeks. We will have hockey skills, family skating, games and a silent auction. Please join us and pass this on to any interested parties you may know. The Piepers have been to hell and back and Duke is hanging in there and very slowly moving forward. This benefit will help their spirit more than anything. Please rsvp as we would like to have an idea as to the number participating. Feel free to call with any questions.

Thank you in advance for your consideration!"

Thanks,

There has been some very very positive news of late regarding Duke !!

I think he is actually eating some "junk" food.

Things have not been going as good as expected. More surgeries have set back his rehab and it has been said that he is in incredible pain. I hope you guys can keep Duke in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days.

Duke is being honored and will be dropping the puck at the Wild game on Saturday.

Everyone there should send a shout out to him for all of his hard work and efforts....He has come a long way.

Way to go Duke!
