The annual Beanpot Tournament starts this Monday night (2/2) in Boston. The first semifinal matches the top ranked Boston University Terriers (19-5-1) against the Harvard Crimson (5-11-4). Boston University is coming off a 3-1 win over Merrimack this last weekend, and are currently on a 5 game winning streak. Harvard beat Union last Friday 3-1, snapping a winless streak that started in mid-November.
In the other semifinal, the 12th ranked Boston College Eagles (11-8-4) play the 3rd ranked Northeastern Huskies (17-6-2). Boston College is coming off a 2-2 tie with Providence. Northeastern lost to U-Mass 6-4 in Amherst Friday night. The two teams have met once already this season, a 4-3 win for Northeastern on October 18.

BU doesn't always crush teams, but they will beat Harvard. I know they're #1 in the nation, but the experts had them as early favorites a couple months ago for the NCAA tournament. It's good to see Boston back as a powerhouse. Prediction: BU 5, Harvard 1.
I don't think Northeastern is the third best team in the nation, but they're very good. Just like last year, I still think BC is one of the best teams in the country despite their record. I'll take BC and UNH over Vermont and Northeastern anyday. Just too much history and experience. I'm hoping the Huskies can pull it off, but I like BC in Boston. Prediction: BC 3, Northeastern 2.
