I'd be stunned if we know all of the seedings before mon with many sections completing this task today, tomorrow, or even monday and then the admin turn-around time on posting online vs direct communication from involved coaches...

Ghs - Why would Section 4 doing seedings before games are even complete?

Ghs - Why would Section 4 doing seedings before games are even complete?
Process is determined by the coaches within the section and the section admin. Section Rep as designated by Coaches Assn usually will work to coordinate with section admin (assigned by MSHSL - usually an area AD, etc.) as to what is desired. Sometimes logistical constraints come into consideration such as time needed to notify impacted parties coordinate transportation, etc., etc. In this day and age some may view a few of the practices as ancient but there is something to be said for the notion of a face-to-face meeting AFTER almost every reg season game has been played, etc. Think of it this way... Did the SW/RV section seed pre- their last game between each other? Would that have impacted the seeding? Just a hypothetical that may not have even been an issue but something to consider...

Some sections email/fax/etc. in seedings to section admin, some sections meet face-to-face, some sections do this pre-end-of season to have everything coordinated ASAP, some believe in waiting until nearly all games played, some sections believe in a high-seed-host prelim or even QF/SF setup (rarely championship round is that way though), etc., etc. All this is determined by coaches involved, their section rep, the section admin, and sometimes the logistics of it all.

My favorite section playoff happened when it snowed out an opening round forcing games to be played during a school day as you have to get those games in ASAP - THAT was a true mess, but illustrates what can happen even with the best planning.

I should note that I don't believe in a "high-seed-host" scenario after the opening/QF round as playing at one neutral site builds excitement/atmosphere and facilitates scouting, etc. Great to ahve at least the SF back-to-back at one neutral site. This is especially true for class A as there really aren't as many fans and so too is the choice of venue critical to give the events some atmosphere... ALthough tough if a section is very spread out geographically as some A sections are out-state...

As it turned out (per the outcome of the Roseville / Stillwater game) it didn't really impact the already awarded section 4AA seedings. Just speaking in general terms applicable to all sections, in my view it's not really correct to make those seedings prior to the completion of the regular season...including games between conference and section opponents. My reasoning is merely if you're basing those seedings at least in part on team records...you're basically just throwing some games out of the equation...calculation...picture...whatever you want to call it.

Section 4AA can provide a good hypothetical example with that SEC conference title game. If Stillwater wins, I believe they could / should have earned the #2 seed. Some will disagree...and it's arguable I admit. I personally would have given greater weight to a late season W over Roseville than the early season L to Hill.

Section 4AA is also a pretty good example of the idea that seeding isn't going to make a whole bunch of difference...when any team is going to have to play extremely well and beat very tough opponents to advance to the X...100% regardless of their seed.
