Virginia Defense: Average 21.4 shots allowed per game, and 2.0 goals allowed per game.
In 23 games, only twice has an opponent scored more than four goals against Virginia and they both happened early on. Hibbing is the only team to score more than two against them since Christmas.
Marshall offense: Averaging 4.0 goals per game, and 32 shots per game.
Nothing here leads me to beleive there is any realistic chance that Marshall can put up 6 or 7 goals. They definitely have a shot at a win here, but it won't be high scoring with these two goalies.

This one is now endanger of postponement or outright cancellation (being its this late in the season). Duluth schools are closed today and the ice storm thats moving in is supposed to last through Tuesday morning. Duluth has the no school-no play rule and it doesn't look all that promising with the forecast. Hopefully, the forecast changes because it may be difficult to find a date in the next 6 days before the seeding meeting to get this one in!

Marshall definetly does not want this game canceled. for DM this game means the difference between 2nd and 4th seed. also Mauslof is back and this team needs to find its groove in the 5 games, and a win against Vigrinia would be huge for them. that said here are my thoughts on both teamsref17 wrote:i hope this one isnt canceled. im thinking Marshall wants it canceled with no make-up date. devils are hot right now. that bus will probably melt the ice on 53. GAME ON! Devils will (lustig) pull away in the third. devils 5-2. might have to drive up to duluth to see this one.
Virginia
-this team can score 13 times this year they have scored 5 or more goals and have only been shutout once.
- westin is consistent with points in 22 of their 28 games of which 17 are milti point games
-allot of people score, 20 players have points, even Lustig has 3 apples this year
- top heavy but even in scoring, after the 4 top scorers who have 63,51,33,32 points respectivly; the next 12 point getters are separated by 6 points
-they play a pretty weak schedule (ranked 74th)
-the aforementioned lustig has some of the best stats in the area.
-have 34 goals on the powerplay
DM
-play a tough schedule (ranked 32nd)
-also have 20 players with points this year
-very young and inexperienced
-daecent on the PP(21 goals in 20 games)
-have also only been shutout once
-if you throw out the crazy totino grace game they have not allowed more than 4 goals in any game
-only 7 times have they scored 5 or more goals
-although he doesnt have the great stats, Paul is one of the better and more experienced goalies in the area
DM lost 12 seniors last year and this year the team has showed its youth and inexperience, meanwhile Virgina is the complete opposite having been where DM is now last year. that being said Dm has also been pretty well tested this year, now with one of the 2 best players back, they are starting to find their groove, and not a moment too soon. Both teams are fighting for the #2 seed, and both would like to silence their critics, for Virginia its the people who say their schedule is too weak, for DM its the people who say this years squad is not up to par. both teams have great scorers, good role players and excelent goalies. i think this game will come down to discipline, both teams can put the puck in the net on the PP so the team that takes fewer penalties has a pretty good shot at winning.
my prediction is
DM 5 en
Virginia 3
and yea i kno i need a life
enjoy this post while it lasts....
