Have the Rules of Hockey Changed?

Post by BodyShots »

Either the rules have changed, or the refs last night at the Cretin vs WBL game have no clue.

Rule #1 - When the puck is touched by a player on the bench, the play should be stopped and an insueing face off should occur.

Twice last night, a puck was thrown up the board, hit a player on the bench and drpped straight down. Neither time did the refs stop play!

Rule #2 - A player can not play with a broken stick.

Cretin player breaks stick on far side of ice. Ingages in action at center ice holding top half of stick. Continues toward bench when he reallized everybody on the bench is yelling at him to drop his stick. Drops other half and jumps off the ice for a player change. Pretty comical for refs to pick up blade half at one end of ice and the top half at other end of ice.

Rule #3 - A hip check is not holding.

Gotta give credit to the Cretin D. Best hip check I've seen since Curt Giles played for the North Stars. Stupid ref calls him for holding.

I think these refs had a contest last night on who could make the most bad calls. My vote goes to the skinny guy.

Yo, Bodyshots??

How about the non-call in which a CDH player literally wrapped his arms around a WBL player, taking him down and should have been called for holding or intereference at the end of period 2, which made Sager run out to the ref at the buzzer??

I know it was Valentine Day, but golly, Bodyshots, I bet you haven't seen that much hugging since your days in the backseat of a Ford Escort!!!

And I know I am naive... I know I am a goalie dad, but, I didn't think a penalty should have been called on WBL's Jansen, when he tried to leapfrog between the CDH goalie and a defenseman for a loose puck, a good, 10-12 feet IN FRONT of the crease. To me, it was incidental contact, and , while I believe there should be protections built in for the goalie, but Jansen had as much right to that puck, that far out in front of the net, as the goalie and Def....
