Century vs. Mayo 2-19
The two hottest teams of southeast Minnesota square off in a big rivalry game. If Mayo wins they force a 3 way tie in the Big 9 with Albert Lea and Century. This could end up being a rematch for the section 1AA finals. What are your thoughts on the game?
If Mayo wins they have 16 pts and tie with Albert Lea, Century 2nd with 15 pts. If Century wins they have 17 pts Albert Lea 16, and Mayo 15. If they tie Century and Albert Lea tie with 16 pts, Mayo with 15.
Now I think Mayo is the better team with the better goalie, it comes down to who makes the fewest mistakes at defense and Penalties. I look for a 1 goal game should be a fun one.

its a bummer it had to end in a tie however.....itll be great 2 see these 2 teams play again in sections!!!!!!!

Mayo and Century closed their Big Nine Conference seasons on Thursday at Graham Arena, skating to a 2-2 tie in front of a fired-up full house.
The tie gives Century (7-0-2 Big Nine, 12-10-2 overall) a share of the Big Nine championship, along with Albert Lea. Mayo finishes the regular season 7-1-1 and 16-8-1.
Century led 2-0 after one period. Jared Samuelson scored first, on a power play, firing a slap shot from the blue line that deflected off a teammate's breezers and past Mayo goalie Jordan Yaggy (30 saves).
Joe Faupel made it 2-0 Panthers when he put back a rebound of his shot at the 10:20 mark.
Brad Fisher cut Mayo's deficit in half when Tom Alexander fed him from behind the goal at 2:41 of the second.
Alexander sent the game to overtime when Fisher returned the favor, holding the puck long enough for Alexander to get in position to one-time a pass past Panthers goalie Cam Sellnow (27 saves) with 3:04 to go in the third period.
Century closes its regular season on Saturday at Roseville.
Both teams will find out on Sunday where they are seeded in the Section 1AA tournament, which begins next week.

Yes, it was an amazing and exciting game.
Of course I thought we should have and could have won if your PP had clicked like it has recently.
I am also very proud of the fact that we were missing 2 of our top 5 defensemen, and that another two were gutting out becuase they were very sick yesterday. Several guys were sent home yesterday to rest up because of illness. This is not an excuse or a reason why we tied instead of won, it is simply a coach proud of his team's effort and play under adverse cuircumstances.
Of course I thought we should have and could have won if your PP had clicked like it has recently.

Im trying to figure out how much Mayo paid the reffs in the second period to give century that many penetlys on mostly bogus calls..this is a CROSS TOWN rival for the BIG 9 CHAMPIONSHIP it was ludacris that the reff called that many penetlys ONLY to century in the 2nd. Mayo is a buch of divers and fakers, did anyone see the mayo player at the end of the 2nd take a SLAPSHOT CLEARLY after the buz at the end of the 2nd and NOT get a pently? there is now way to justicfie he coudlnt't hear it becuase it was at the end of the buzz! Im glad mayo couldnt captilize on their WHOLE 17 minutes of 5-2 5-3 in the second otherwise it would have been a slaughter. SEMNHOCKEYFAN get off you ED medicine and having sex about mayo you KNOW they are are un classy team and they whine and dive and cheap shot everyone, and you know that if 19, 18, Whitney and Fischer, what ever numbers they are, were to play jrs right now they would have their noses and eye sockets broken becuase they are CHEAP and do not have any respect for the game, i hope 19 plays jrs becuase i will go to eveyrone of his games just to see him get this faced beat in because he deserves it after 3 years of diving, and cheapshotting his opponets

Many penalties went uncalled in the game on both teams.
I did not see the shot after the horn. All I know is that it was loud.
I was not looking but heard the shot his the pads then turned to see our player get decked. I guess both players should have received a penalty if that is the case.
I am proud of the restraint my players should tonight, especially some that get many penalties at times.
It was a great game and both teams should be proud of their performance and both appear ready for the playoffs.

First off you can't be too brilliant when it comes to hockey. You can't have a 5 on 2 powerplay. As for the second period, Kneopke had that 4 minute penalty and unsportsmanlike penalty on top of that. (But that was Mayo's fault, right?) Grinde started the 2nd in the box for arguing to the refs, again must have been Mayo's fault. Mayo was in the box for a good amount as well at tonights game, but the refs missed a few calls that could have gone Mayo's way in the first period. It's hockey, refs aren't able to see everything. Yeah, mayo could have been in the box more, but same could have been said for century. okay first 5-4 MY BAD jesus and second you are taugt to protect your goalie at all cost, if someone shoots at my goalie( yes i have played jrs) you go and you take care of them, they can not be doing that and there is NO WAY he can say i didnt hear the buzzard when he knows there is less than a second left, pure goon, and anyone who says that Mayo wasnt the reffs favorite tonight is full of S...i am just loving the fact that century wins a share of the big 9 and wil get seeded 4th, shows how GREAT the confrence is.....

Alot of people have a problem with Mayo? Ha, well first off, if I recall right, last year at the kiwanis tournament players and fans from ALexandria sat with the Mayo crowd participating in a "We hate Century yes we do, we hate Century how about you?" chant. As an alum from Mayo that was pretty entertaining to see. Same went on with JM fans last year I believe. Ha, and Albert Lea as well. yeah it funny becuase it shows that everyone hates century becuase of what we have, just think, if century would have won AL wouldnt not even get a part of the big 9...sooo in a right mind they WOULD cheer for mayo so they can get that cute little "big 9 champs" on their letter jacket.....dont try to out do me...you can not win..
