Can anyone tell me more about the Senior Classic coming up this weekend?? It looks like they make teams by section, do the best players from each section actually attend? Is it a big deal, or not really?

Best kids from each section are invited, who attends depends on each individual. You can check the MGHCA web-site for rosters as the week progresses. It seems to be recruited pretty well by the DIII coaches who are still looking for players for next season.

Yes there are 8 teams organized by sections, i.e. seniors from Sections 5A and 5AA combine to make one "Section 5" team. All games will played at Schwans this weekend, starting Friday evening.

They didn't post them last year until the day of either. I assume they don't want to listen to any complaints.

I can tell you that it will be amusing to see who is on the list in some sections that have a lot of seniors.

I would guess the posting of the rosters has more to do with the timing of when invites are sent out (end of year for some, preparing for state for others), and when they hear back from kids. I think this is put together at a busy time, and in past years they are still waiting to hear back from some kids right up to the day before, day of the tourney.

TIE BREAKING PROCEDURE FOR SEEDING INTO FINAL ROUND GAMES
In the event two teams points total are tied after the three game preliminary round the following procedure will be used to place teams in the seeded championship games:
1. The lowest goals allowed total
2. Highest goals scored for total
3. Best goal differential total
4. Flip of a coin

GAME FORMAT All games will consist of three 17 minute stop periods. Play will be stopped at the 8:30 minute mark of the second period to warm-up the second goalie (2 minutes). A seven minute warm-up period will be used prior to the start of each game. Teams will remain on the ice after the conclusion of the warm-up. There will be one 8-minute sudden death period in the case of a tie at the end of regulation. If still tied the game at the end of the 8 minute overtime period, each team will be awarded 1 ½ points. For championship round games, if still tied at the end of overtime, a 5 player shoot-out will be used to determine a winner. No player may shoot twice until all players have had an opportunity to shoot.
