an ugly win is still a win
On Thursday night, as the Spuds were taking it to the Hornets, Lou said something like "how did these guys lose 8 straight games?". Now we all know. That was just flat out and ugly game. Neither team could complete a pass or stay on their skates for that matter.
If Moorhead plays like they did against Edina, we have a game. If they play like they did against CDH, we have a blowout.
Eden Prairie looked really strong. Moorhead will have to be at their best just to stay close.

I couldn't agree with you more, hotpotato81. Tonight's game was one of the ugliest I've seen the Spuds play this year. They couldn't complete a pass for anything. Luckily for the Spuds, neither could Cretin. That's the only reason they won this game. Well, that and Logan Marks played another good game. But they were only slightly less ugly than the Raiders.
If they go out tomorrow night and play like they did tonight, it'll be like the championship game against Elk River. But if they play inspired hockey like they did against Edina, anything is possible.
But no matter what.....
GO SPUDS!!!

Re: hockey
I'm with you on this one. Moorhead just didn't look like the same team that beat Edina. Meanwhile, Eden Prairie is getting better as the tourney goes on.MNRinkRat wrote:I want Moorhead to win but I see the Eagles winning this one.

I have some questions about these teams.
Have either one won a state championship yet?
Just kidding Potato Heads but seriously my questions are 1. Has Eden Prairie been to a championship game before? 2. How many 2nd place trophies does Moorhead have? Not to be a smart A, I'm just curious what their championship game record is going into tomorrow.
I think this game can go either way. Eden Prairie hasn't impressed me in either of their games. Moorhead impressed me vs. Edina but was a completely different team tonight. Hence, making predicting a winner very hard.
I will say this: After the 1st period of the Edina quarter final game, I told the people I was with (after seeing the Spuds actually compete with Edina for 17 minutes) "Looking at the brackets, this could be Moorhead's year. If they play like this for 2 more periods and come out of this game with a W, I don't know why this couldn't be the year they actually pull the trigger on the deal." And I don't even like Moorhead.

Eden Prairie comes from a two goal deficit to beat a very good Blaine team and that doesn't impress you? You know hockey buddy.City of Compton wrote:I have some questions about these teams.

That would be 6, and I'm afraid it's soon to be 7 after what I saw tonight. Ugh, I can't take another 2nd place finish.City of Compton wrote:I have some questions about these teams.

I never claimed to be any type of scout. I stated my opinion. Didn't the game tying goal come off a very lucky bounce? Not saying luck doesn't play a factor in games, but I just didn't see anything that made me say "The Eagles truly are the #1 team in state" the couple games I've seen them.breakout wrote:You know hockey buddy.
The played good. They crawled back after being down by 2. Lots of props, that takes character. I'm an Eagles fan, I hope to God they win. I'm from Elk River I hate Moorhead. But I've been an Eagles fan since the days of Collin Peters. Ryan Hawkins. Dan Kuhl. Smaagaard, Erickson, etc, etc. I always thought they were underachievers and really hope this is their year.
And after seeing both Eden Prarie and Moorhead play, I think they got their work cut out for them, and it's no guarantee.

And didn't Moorhead's winner come on an offsides play?City of Compton wrote:I never claimed to be any type of scout. I stated my opinion. Didn't the game tying goal come off a very lucky bounce? Hey! I'm glad you brought that up!! I was at the game today so I didn't really get to see any clear replay-I thought he was offsides!! I can't believe they let that happen like that... But even with replay I suppose they can't review that and take the goal away either though...EREmpireStrikesBack wrote:And didn't Moorhead's winner come on an offsides play?![]()
What garbage.
p.s. I didn't say Moorhead was awesome either! Sheesh you kids are sensitive. I state my opinion once and get savaged.

You should learn to never say anything good about Moorhead, then you wouldn't have to worry about getting "savaged".City of Compton wrote:p.s. I didn't say Moorhead was awesome either! Sheesh you kids are sensitive. I state my opinion once and get savaged.
Either way, consider it your welcome.

Actually, he wasn't offsides. I have the game taped, he only had one skate over the line. It was a VERY close play, but his left leg appeared to still be in the neutral zone when the puck crossed the line.City of Compton wrote:Hey! I'm glad you brought that up!! Actually, a similar play happened a couple years ago in a Hermantown - Warroad game. Hermantown scored a goal, the Warroad coach thought they were offside and wanted a review, but was told it wasn't a reviewable play.

Not sure what angle you are watching, but the one I see he's got both in the zone when he drags the puck in behind him.greyhoundsnation27 wrote:Actually, he wasn't offside. Regardless, that was a pretty sick goal so mad props on that.
