Herb Brooks award

Post by Bigfan »

Congratulations to Riley Hirsh {Little Falls} for winning the Herb Brooks
award! Riley is a hard working player on the ice and a very good person of the ice. It was a pleasure watching him during his career as a Flyer.
Congrats Riley, good luck with your future.

Ditto, I had the pleasure of attending Little Falls high school with him as well, he is a great person on and off the ice.
GO FLYERS!

They don't name finalists. They vote during the title game of each class.

Congrats to young Mr Hirsch. LF always gave Alex all or more than they could handle over the past few years but when the games were over friends met before hitting the locker rooms. That's what HS sports is all about!

Actually each coach of a team in the tournament nominates a player from their team they think deserves the award and a little essay is written about the player and then the Brooks foundation and Brooks family chooses who they think best represents what Herb Books stood for so it has nothing to do with the media. The all-tournament team is chosen by the media and they have to turn in their ballets by the end of the 1st period of the championship game.

of course it's a great choice in your eyes, anything little falls is just aces in your book. it's a nice award to get, i don't know the kid but i assume he is very deserving just like any other candidate nominated by the coach is. congrats

I agree, & I do drink to much purple kool-aid.  Any idea who SCC's nominee was?

AA winner was Trent Johnson of Moorhead. Great kid and multiple sport lettermen in Moorhead. His state tournament appearances may not be finished as he could go in Track and Field as well.

Congrats to Trent and Riley!!!
