State Champs...
I heard a rumor going around school today that EP was going to drop out of the Lake. I, personaly, do not believe this rumor. Can anyone confirm or shoot this one down please?

What I heard is that they will be joining a new Twin Cities Conference. There will be a Public Division consisting of EP, Edina, Minnetonka, Hopkins, and Bloomington Jefferson. The Private Division will have Hill Murray, BSM, Holy Angels, CDH and St. Thomas. My "source" says that for hockey they are talking about breaking off from the MSHSL and having their own AAA State Tournament, with the winner playing SSM for the right to represent Minnesota at nationals...

Im guessing and somewhat hoping you just made that up playing around. Cause I'm pretty sure that will never ever happen. But dont people think it would be interesting to have the state champions play Shattuck prep afterwards to see how they stack up?MNHockeyFan wrote:What I heard is that they will be joining a new Twin Cities Conference. May be started with new conference discussions
Sounds like a chain being yanked, but it may have been related to the ongoing discussions about what to do with the teams from the disbanding Classic Lake (Tonka, Hopkins, Edina and Wayzata) who have not found new conference homes. The MSHSL is in discussions about placing them in one or more leagues. At the same time, there have been talks among the teams in the Lake from Dakota County about starting their own league of just Dakota County teams (and avoiding the chance of the Classic Lake teams joining the Lake). The last I had heard is that 7-8 teams were interested (although I think they wanted Farmington also, who declined). Not sure if it will happen or not.
The MSHSL has to do something with the Classic Lake teams by July, and the question may be whether the Classic Lake teams go north to the North Suburban or south to the Lake or are split between them. Their assignments may cause other schools to rethink their current conference committments, as the consequences for travel and competition (in all sports) are significant. Stay tuned.
But none of this affects the 2009-10 schedule. It will begin 2010-11 school year.
