Blades 5 Machine 1, as my son said "it wasn't that close".

It was running time until the Machine squeaked in a single goal seconds into the third. I don't think the Machine had ten shots on the net. The Blades defense shut them down and the Blades forwards did a great job fore checking, back checking and were faster. Plus I was watching the coaches on both benches. Outstanding job by the Blades coaches. It is funny what they can do without yelling and screaming at their players. Plus, the Blades rolled all of their players. They did not short bench one player the entire game. Can the Machine say the same thing? NOT!!!

Blades are a quality team and they are good kids too. I'm curious, how many of these kids will play for the Blades all year vs. only at selected tournaments? I guess it is a different philosophy. Many of the teams this weekend at all age levels were hybrid teams. It makes for good competition but is it really showcasing a hockey development program (which MN Made clearly is).

I'm curious if the players who get bumped from the roster when the studs are flown in think this is a good thing.

Yes the Bades won but the goaltending was not there for the Machine.More a 3-1 game Blades did a good job of keeping the Machine outside

Kind of funny hearing the sour grapes here. Doesn't Bernie advertise that he dominates all in north america? I am sure he would be very excited to play the best to see how he stacks up against them. Is it his system, or the fact he recruits better than most. Maybe the blades did a better job in recruiting. Any way players are made, not born, so it should not matter where they are from since they do not go through his training, and therefore should lose anyway.

After 6 games in a weekend I think all the players get a little worn out. There will be another day when the teams will meet again. Fresh minds and fresh legs. Great tournament for all teams!

Is it a fact that the 99 blades flew in players from other areas or is this just another unsubstantiated gripe? If is is true, what areas did these players come from?

The Blades have a skater on their team from Texas. As I understand it, he's on their Brick roster and will be back in town for future tournaments. They also had a goalie from the east coast but he didn't play in the championship. I believe those were the only kids not from the area.

Get used to it people. All the good summer teams in North America have the best kids rostered that they can. MN Blades are no different. If it means getting kids from Canada, Boston, Dallas, Detroit so be it. The 99 team is going to Edmonton this summer to play such teams, thus the roster as you see it. This program builds teams to compete and the highest level.

I don't believe the player from Hudson was flown in. It is not uncommon for AAA teams to have players from Wisc. on roster. The 96 Blades had a very talented players from Madison and Chicago on roster the last couple years - this year they are not playing for them. 97 Blades have a couple players from Hudson and a player from River Falls rostered. I consider those areas as acceptable and an extension of the metro area. Texas and the East Coast I admit, are a little extreme - but how programs elect to formulate their rosters should not be a concern as it is AAA hockey and not community based association hockey. Obviously Doug Woog is not recruiting for these teams.

Who really cares about kids coming in from the outside? First we hear the complaints that AAA hockey is watered down, then we hear it is not fair that ringers are brought in. Summer hockey has jungle rules when it comes to participation, so just deal with it.

BTW-(No dog in this hunt)I don't have my kids playing AAA. If they did, they would be open level players and burnt out by mid-April.

I'm hoping your saying that based on your own kids and not passing judgment on those that are playing summer hockey ... we've been down that path many times.

just saying that I don't have a personal stake, just an observation. My kids are not good enough to play on the Blades or Machine, in part because they do not have the mindset to play year round, but I do get a kick out of the back and forth.

Hopefully I can ease your curiosity. If you are speaking in general terms, I don't know how players would feel if that actually happened. On our MM team last year our goalie would go play with the machine, and sometimes the machine goalie would not play. If your asking in particular about this Blades team, I am told they don't have players that get bumped. The skater from out of state sounds as if he is one of 15 skaters on the team. I met a California parent this weekend, his boy is playing this summer on a Illinois team. He is going to be in 3 to 4 trnys. He is going to spend the month of August with a teammate to practice. He is part of their team for 2009, not a pickup player.

Total. Quit with the complaints... Its the Blades, they bring in players at all levels. If you dont approve, SO WHAT!!!! Its summer hockey and its allowed. It's about top players and good competition!!!!!!! It makes all the players step up....

We all know what is allowed in AAA hockey as far as roster.

Don't confuse development with an airplane.

The Blades FLY in the best they can and than say this is development I supose some will go on and become areo space enginers so this is development.
This is the Brick team so lets see if the enginers can win up north Good luck.

Lord knows the Machine has never brought anybody in from out of town or state, they don't need to right because MM makes hockey players.

If you think your organization(MM) is exempt, ask BM how much tickets from Cali are to say Chicago, Detroit or maybe St. Louis...........
