Great 99 game

Post by posterchild »

I was at BIG last night for my sons practice and got to see a great game on the other rink. The 99 Edge were playing the 99 Blades. Fun to watch these two teams play. Does anyone know why the Edge team does not play in any of the big tournaments in the summer? The game ended 5-3 Blades. The Edge were up at two different points in the game. The Blades got kind of a bad goal in the last minute to make it 5-3.

Was fun to watch the team play of these two teams for 9 and 10 years old. Both teams were very well coached.

Who coached these two teams?

If anyone has any other scores, could you post, trying to update my programs.

Thanks!!!

I just caught the 99 Edge and 99 Iceman game at the Warrior cup. The Edge won 9-0. This is the 2nd time I have seen them now and they have been very good both times. Does anyone know where the players come from or the are out of.

I don't know, innocent til proven guilt I still say. Just because he knows scores doesn't mean his son plays for THAT team, maybe he does, it's just that it's just so darn cynical on this board. I realize no one cares (trust I am fully aware) but I don't think I'll last on this board, the cynicism is absolutely sapping my strength. This isn't what I thought this board would be.

JSR,

Stay on the Board. Don't let some of these unfriendly characters chase you away. I suspect you're bothered by the fact that some individuals who post on this Board feel empowered to be rude because their real identities are unknown to most of us. However, most of the folks on this Board do recognize that using a moniker to post is not a license to be rude. I suspect some of the unfriendly characters are frustrated by their own lot in life and feel better about their "hard" existence after they attack someone or declare that their child's team or program is so much better than another team or program. Whatever . . .

Read their posts and then smile, knowing that if you matched your personal, professional and academic accomplishments against theirs, you would likely come out on top. Allow them to feel better about their lot in life because their Johnny or Susie is on a better team or line than your child--at least for now.

As for the Blades/Edge game, it sounds like it was a good game. Hats off to the boys on both teams. My son played with a '99 Blades player last winter. He's a good kid and his parents don't brag about their son being the next Gretzky or that the Blades program is superior to any other program. Further, the kid doesn't wear his Blades apparel during the association hockey season. Grace and class can take a person a long way in life.

Hey doglover

I do not have a son on the edge or the blades. My son is not at that level. He loves the game and hopes to there. He is working hard at it. I am new to the whole aaa thing. My son plays showcase and I have done a lot of watching and asking questions to learn. My friend told me about this site. I have been watching a number of 99 teams to see if there is a fit for my son. I was told my son might be a fit for the edge. So I explored them and watched them. I was told to not even talk to the blades or the made teams since they would fond me if my son was good enough. He is not there yet but watching these good players sure motivated him.

Sorry if I offended you doglover

No offense taken posterchild. 8)
JSR - sorry but you are very naive. One recommendation is never ever visit the other hockey forum if you think the cynicism is high here. Hockey is a choice - enjoyed your post! Keep them coming! We need more humor on this bored from time to time.

It's a game gentlemen - lighten up a little. You are taking yourselves much too seriously especially if your little Johnny is like 8. Just a guess, but I bet he's your oldest too. You too will become a bit more cynical over time but your sense of humor will also improve - direct correlation so you may ultimately consider it a win-win scenario! Or, Johnny may move on and play golf.

I don't think it is me or others liek me who need to lighten up. I think it's the other way around, i think it's the cynics who need to lighten up. I hope I will ever become that cynical, it's not in my nature. It's just a game, I never took sports that seriously, even when I played sports in college, I would hope that would not change now

JSR - Sorry, I didn't realize you were the same dad with the son who didn't mind getting killed 20-0 in hockey games. I think your outlook is refreshing and truely hope you never do become cynical like I have. Let's chat when your son is out of elementary school and we'll see if he's still happy just playing the game - I hope he is. I think B and C team players are much better able to maintain their love of the game because it never becomes "work" and they never have to carry a team or have the pressure to always be the one to score the winning goals. Of course with all the pressure and responsibility also comes the big rewards. Maybe they will even be lucky enough to play college sports like you did! Now that would even be more exciting than getting invited to play Selects!
(please realize this post is my cynical attempt at sarcasm and not meant to offend anyone  )

I don't know what the future holds for my son. I don't know what is going to motivate him in the future, I just know what mtoivates him now. For me I was self motivated by the love of the game I played (which in my case was soccer). I can only hope that is what motivates him. There was no MLS when I was in college so for us American soccer players pretty much college soccer was the pinnacle. SO perhaps love of the game is why most of us played, I'm not sure. Perhaps that has changed even for the soccer players now that we have an MLS to aspire to and now that our National team is no longer a joke. I'm not sure. Like you said (even if sarcastically) maybe things will change for him as he gets to higher levels of the sport and gets older. You never know, I just want him to love whatever he chooses to do first and foremost. So far he loves hockey, can't get enough of it and for his age (pelase note it is only for his age, I realize these things change big time over time) he has been pretty good at it. If he stays good at it, great, if he is not as good when he's older relative to his peers that's ok too as long as he's playing for the right reasons and trying as hard as he is able. I learned a long time ago there are things you can control and things you cannot, some are fair and some are not so you might as well do something that makes you happy and keep that thing as something that makes you happy. Most of the time, even if indirectly it will take you far in life.
