I got the idea from the boys forum and am interested to hear what people have to say about the girls.

I'm confused. Are you talking about girls born in the year 2000? They're 9 years old. Is there really any more to say on the subject except for maybe this is the girls high school forum and let's talk about these girls in another six years or so?

Go look at the boys version on the other forum. You pick a team and say the top 3 lines of forwards and 2 sets of D over the past ten years.

Can we count transfers at their home area HS if they played at least 1 season there?

Roseville might have a pretty unbeatable team of the decade.

It's really up to you. I'm not asking for the best team. I'm asking for the top lines of each of your favorite teams.

You probably need to add Alie McKeever G and Annie Bauerfield F (now at Bemidji State - but part of several SSP Championship Teams) to the list under what could have been.....

not sure if I am correct Joe, but aren't the two Philipzcyk girls from Woodbury. I thought I had read they were from Woodbury. The elder went to Eagan ( and the Gophers) and the younger Stillwater. If I am correct you shoud add to your could have been list.
That being said why is all that talent leaving Woodbury? They have the Beilenberg sport center, a top notch soccer program, and decent schools, yet a mass exodus of talent from the girls hockey program.

Great point forgt them! Probably no one answer. Woodbury before only plyed B level hockey and didn't have a board supportive of growing girls or creating excellance the HS program has had 3 coaches in a pretty short time. I think the community and some of the listed players are helping now build a great prgram. Stacy Anderson will now try to build the winning tradition the HS boys have done with Wes Bolin. If they can you will see more girls stay and play.

CEC's team would be hard to really single out one line.. but the obvious 3 include Michelle Maunu, Johanna Ellison, and Sadie Lundquist... There's so much talent STILL on the team this year and next that could compete with that group for a spot on the all-decade team.

There are too many names that would make an honorable mention list to mention some without forgetting others, BUT the other teams in the section are that much better now than in the early years when CEC and South St. Paul were a regular opponent in the state tournament.

alumni game

Post by royals dad »

At the Hopkins Alumni game last night there was a line with Farni (Harvard), Peterson (Mankato State), Kortum (Minnesota), Coach P and Westerham (Concordia) skating in on Kallie Billadeau. Cara Johnson was center opposite Kortum. Coach Smart was the ref. That was a pretty nice 8 on the ice all at once. It was pretty cool to see, it reminded me of this thread.
No clock or score board but some fast end to end action, the girls really seemed to be having fun. They had to give up a scrimmage to be able to do keep the alumni game this year but seemed worth it.

Saw Selvog play years ago in St.Cloud at the MN Selects Tourney. She was the best player on the ice. And there were a lot of big names on her team.

Interesting considering our team was told by the high school league and the NCAA that these types of games were no longer allowed. Fun to see nonetheless, I wish we could have had ours, we have done it for several years in the past. It was always fun.

Why do you suppose it is ok for one team but not the other? Or was it an oversite?

Here is what i found on the MSHSL

C. An Alumni game, if not played under the conditions described in A, must count toward the limit of games allowed.

A. Interschool Scrimmages and Intrasquad Scrimmages:
An inter-school scrimmage is defined as an instructional and practice training session. Scrimmage sessions shall not approximate or equal actual game conditions. A time clock may be used during the scrimmage in order to approximate certain game situations during which coaches may want to give instructions to their athletes. Teams participating in a scrimmage MAY NOT:
• Use a scoreboard or any other device to keep score or show points scored;
• Keep an official or unofficial scorebook;.
• Use game uniforms or uniforms identifying the school. Practice jerseys are permitted;
• Charge admission of any kind for the scrimmage. This includes free will donations;
• Advertise or promote the scrimmage;
• Officials can be used;
• Record or report scores of the scrimmage.

Looks to be just fine!
