The rosters just came out for the Elite II High School League. Anyone have any input as to how the talent level is?

What is the point of so many teams? There's no way, after Elite I, that over 130 players can be called Elite. I know it's a business but this smells of greed, not great.

 you are spot on! But you know people will flock to it because they can say they played on an elite team.

Actually it is called Elite II. It is a developmental league with time split between practices and games.

I'll apologize in advance for saying this, but they really truly need to find a different name for this league. I'm sure it's a fantastic idea, etc. etc., and the girls will be working really hard and learning and improving and the games will be entertaining, but what good are words if they mean absolutely nothing? Soon we'll lose the ability to communicate altogether and we'll end up in a Ray Bradbury novel.

You are probably rignt on the semantics but I believe that it is a carry over from the boy's Elite and Elite II programs.

I guess if you think of 3200 some HS girls the 60 EI and 130 in EII are pretty good. Don't know all the names but this looks like a great league to get younger players in - the EII on the boys side kind of works in a ladder I think. Considering this League was announced last year but never really got going this is a great step forward that should only get better over time.

It looks as tho some very good players opted out for one reason or another weather it be. fall sports, Jobs, Money issues, etc.

per Websters (through google dictionary)"elite or e·lites
1.
a. A group or class of persons or a member of such a group or class, enjoying superior intellectual, social, or economic status
b. The best or most skilled members of a group: "the football team's elite." "

I think if your geting the top couple girls from many teams the word Elite as defined by Websters would still be fine.

The players I recognize from the Elite II rosters are solid and some of the top on thier HS teams. This a good step, having players practice and play with and against players of similar ability levels is IMO a key to development.

Does anyone know how the girls were invited/nominated to tryout? I see that some schools have 6 or so, others 1, and yet others none.

Since this was a new/unknown league, maybe some kids already made other plans at places they had played before like Showcase or OS Fall tuneup.
This will be a really good option though for those 'next best 130' in the future.

Leagues like this either establish themselves or flame out - basic things like communications (that could be a thread which programs offer the best or worst communications I believe many fail over bad planning and communications), the cost, level of competition based on kids involved and then the basic experience of development and competition. There are maybe to many programs and kids tend to migrate to where best competition and value can be found.

Fall Sports, work.......effect involvement but also schools captians program - some schools encourage/facilitate fall dryland/strength, 3x3 and captains ice. These are all great and some very cost effective. Captains programs may be a reason schools/players are or are not showing a lot of participation

I hope this is a big success and fun for all involved.

Agree! you can only hope that these programs are for the good of the girls and not just a Money maker.

Winny has done a pretty good job at keeping cost reasonable.

Ha yah I know its funny. But still I heard that this Turner is not very good, and yet she made it on the Elite II. How is that possible if that suppose to be good players? And still what is up with the cakeeater thing, what school is called cakeeaters? Plus is that really her true name?

I think she is a very good goalie and feel you shouln't really comment on someone unless you've seen her play.
