Rankings according to the hub's all-class top 20. First real test of the year for both teams and a matchup of unbeatens, who ya got? I'll take EP 4-1.
EP two out of three.

Slight nod to the 'elk -o-holics' after their 6-3 beat down of 'rAndover'.
Niether team has had much of a test just yet. 3 - 2 Elks. Both schedules look to ramp up over Christmas.

Top 15 material from what I've heard and seen. I took them for not only that reason but also because of EP's performance in the last few games.

Yes they have a very difficult schedule. They play Eden Prairie (Top Ten), Edina, Grand Rapids, and Holy Angels (Top Ten) all this week.

Elk River's Tony Sarsland is a unique coach. Seems to have one D man that plays almost the entire game. He has his players do run and gun flip pass breakouts. He yaps constantly and usually stands in front of players in the bench area.

Can't argue with his success.

They broke the mold when God made that coach.

Hey what do you know, someone finally went with the number one team in the state! As for everybody else, get ready to be proven wrong

I wouldn't call EP number one team in the state. Any additional thoughts for tonight's game?

I wouldn't call EP #1 either but it doesn't seem reasonable to label them underdogs in this game. What does a team need to do to get the respect it deserves?

According to the all-class rankings on minnesotahockeyhub.com, they are number one, ER is 13 on that. Karl has EP at 3 and ER at 8.
EP two out of three.

My thoughts? After watching tonight, EP is not the number one team in the state. They basically had control most of the game, Elk River's sophomore goalie kept the score close. Although there were times in the game when Elk River had EP on their heals.

EP is not the number one team in the state and I wouldn't think they'd want that bulls eye on them this early anyway. They are a solid group with good talent but few superstars (Rau an exception) and OK goaltending. Personally I think they got lucky last year but a repeat is tough to do for anyone and boasting on this board doesn't stir up the love for an already maligned red and black team. Let's see how they fair against Grand Rapids tonight. Heard GR has a strong goaltender and they are a very physical team with some big boys. Should be a fun game.
