Thanks to the east fans and the "easy button " I stayed for the 3rd

I agree with you.. They just need to tighten play up a bit it seems, but its hard to judge like I said playing CEC.. I wish they would play a top team up here, ( tonka, EP, etc ) but there all away games.. Kind of surprised princeton kept it as close as they did tookarl(east) wrote:This was my first time seeing them, too. Clearly they're not a well-oiled machine yet, but I think it's important to remember how much turnover there was. I was impressed by the younger players, and I think there's plenty of room for growth.
I don't really know what's going on with the goalie situation. Jeanetta started the first five games of the season and seemingly played well, but Perlinger was in for both games this week. He did what he needed to tonight, but I don't think judging him on this game would be fair.
East's schedule gets considerably harder now. They have Moorhead at home next Tuesday, which should be a good game. That's followed by the Schwan Cup, which might be a bit of an adventure. (Frankly, I expect one win out of three). After that they've got a big test at home against Blaine on January 5th.

Schwan Cup.. Well I already know how they do at that tournamentIts gonna make for a good section final in 7AA ( assuming east and ER are in it ) But I really hope east can get back down there , but with teams like tonka, EP , Jeffereson Blaine , Hill etc its gonna be a tough season..
On a side note I dont think ive ever seen CEC so bad, and that starts when I was at east from 95 on.. It almost seems like east couldn't get things going, and make good passes and plays, because CEC was that bad and they were always in the way, but not in the way of an actual defense, but just being in the way .. Does that makes sense? lol

Does that makes sense? lolYeah, it makes sense. I've never seen Cloquet like that either; other than the second goalie being better than the first and the occasional spurt, there wasn't much there at all. It was, of course, lots of fun beating up on Cloquet, but it's also a little sad that one of the north's 7AA teams is so far off the map, and that they brought such a small crowd. It takes a lot of the air out of the rivalry.
I'll be out of town during the Moorhead game next week, but I should be able to make the Blaine one. That should be an interesting test, with Bjugstad and co. making their way north.
East lost everything on defense BUT Welinski.HShockeywatcher wrote:Just to throw my two cents into the scheduling...I wish East would schedule A and/or private schools. There are non-section, non-top teams they could take off their schedule and play Hermantown, Marshall, or many other good programs around the state. You could easily sell out Heritage with those matchups.
Anyway, East lost a bit on defense in Forbort, but they will rebound by the end of the season and be competitive. Jan 19 @ Elk River should be huge.

The Easy button was pretty cool (albeit unoriginal). The Bentleyville chant, as Karl said, was classic. How do you respond to something like that? Cloquet fans had nothing intelligible to counter with.mj79 wrote:To me the best was the easy button.. I think the crowd went more nuts when they hit that, over an actual goal.. What are they supposed to say or do when a superior town takes the only thing of worth cloquet has???east hockey wrote:The Easy button was pretty cool (albeit unoriginal). Bump up . Good question, O was wondering the same about SAHA, and thought it would also lead to more shots on goal with having opened up the iceGoldfishdude wrote:I asked this question on a different thread that got lost in some tomfoolery, but I was curious as to feedback on this:
It appears that the rink size is Olympic-size at SAHA.... is it? Is Heritage Olympic-size? If there is a difference, do the East players (or any Duluth team if they share the rinks) have a preference on PLAYING on one or other? Is there a difference in quality of play??
I ask this because when WBL played East at SAHA, for what appeared to be a bigger sheet of ice, there were issues in handling passes, and the shots on goal were about 16-15.. One would think the offensive game would have opened up more..
SAHA is Olympic-size, yes. The Heritage's ice sheet size isn't in rinkfinder.com but I'm pretty sure it isn't.Goldfishdude wrote:I asked this question on a different thread that got lost in some tomfoolery, but I was curious as to feedback on this:
