I am thinking about making a website similar to YouTube, but with all High School games uploaded to it. I know i love to watch the games and I always see people video taping every game so I think we would have a ton of games to watch if i made the site available for users to upload films easily. I think it would be a great way to scout teams, showcase players, or just enjoyable to watch your team play.
Please give me feedback:
-Ideas for the site
-Good site name
-Critique (as to why or why not it would be a good idea)

Excellent idea. Would be great if you can make it searchable by team and opponent. Also, if you can have choices for full game or just selected highlights. Finally, would be great if there is a mini-scoreboard showing where in the game we are - period, time and score.
Name suggestions would be: HockeyShots, State of Hockey, HockeyMicrotron etc...
Good luck - sounds like a lot of work, but could be very rewarding.

Sounds like a LARGE project. Do you have your own server?
I would suggest a pilot project first. Have people upload videos of goals to Youtube and then notify you. You would then collate these links into a thread on this forum. Thus, if I want to see the goals from, say, the latest Edina game, I can get the link from that thread.
If the pilot project is successful, then you can scale it up by purchasing your own server, or finding a service provider who can put up with both the amount of storage and bandwidth required.
We have just reached the extent of my knowledge about this.
Good luck.
