Wayzata vs Minnetonka - Thursday, February 18th

Post by GOPHERFAN119 »

Big game on Thursday in Mtka. The winner will probably be the #1 seed in the sections. It should be a fantastic game. I would anticipate a sell out. Good luck to both teams.

Who do you think is going to win the game ?

I will pick Trojans 3 to 2.

It may already be a sellout. They started selling tickets last Tuesday or Wednesday.
Last time it was a defensive struggle, and probably should have been 1-0 Wayzata. That's the score I'll take, this time around.

The odds of Wayzata playing at its best and Tonka playing at its worst like first time they met(while playing in Wayzata's backyard) are very low therefore I'll take Tonka 4-1 in what looks like their last home game in regular season...

Tonka takes it 3-1, including an empty netter.

How about the odds of seeing a very beatable looking Minnetonka squad, like we have in 2 of the past 4 games............including losing to an Edina squad that Minnetonka formerly crushed?
This little stretch will either serve as a wakeup call for the Skippers, or it is a signal of their increased vulnerability.

Many Tonka backers won't give credit to a team that ties them, beats them or gives them a close game this season. They are convinced that the only team really capable of beating them is themselves.

Tonka strikes back

I say the Skippers will put up a good effort Thursday. They will stay on the attack and play physical.

From what I have seen this year many teams struggle when they have to travel to Pagel... I don't see it being any different in this game. Tonka will prove they are the best team in section 6AA.

Skippers 5 (EN)
Trojans 2

One need not be a, "Tonka backer" to see that they went to sleep after going up by 4 on Edina, especially considering the previous 7-1 pasting they gave the Hornets. However, Tonka will need to play with a killer instinct if they don't want to get beat in sections or state, should they get that far.

Going to sleep in a game, as you suggest could have them eating Jiffy Pop Popcorn while watching other high school lads play at Excel.

The Spuds made mash potatoes of Edina at State last year. One bad game "POOF"! There goes a great season.

I believe so - first game back I think.
The game this week will be critical for both teams. Mtka has to redeem themselves and Wayzata, while they've been playing well, could really get the mojo going if they can also beat Tonka this week. Sell out crowd for sure and great atmosphere for two strong teams to battle it out. I hope they both bring their A games! It will be fun to watch. I'm giving the edge to Wayzata though now that Tonka has shown their vulnerability.

Nice crowd shots of Pagel. What an atmosphere.

Myfoxhockey feed quality usually depends on the internet connection at the rink, and Pagel has been strong in the past. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

 Why thank you.

First period was about what you might expect. Interesting that Tonka's loaded up with Gardiner, Frawley, and Coatta on a line.
