District 8 Bantam A playoffs

Post by bigdaddydangler »

Teams playing the best right now are:

1)Woodbury
2)Lakeville South
3)Eagan

Rochester's goalie, if he stays hot, could pose some problems as well as Lakeville North and River Heights. River Heights ended up the season poorly.

Woodbury is the cream of the crop in this district

I have seen Woodbury, Eagan, and Lakeville South when my kids team played them, I see it:

1. Woodbury
2. Eagan
3. Lakeville South

Lakeville South could be the mover though as win/lose wise, they have improved through the season

Weekend scores see Lakeville North getting beat by Rochester! Is Rochester peaking at the right time? Will take on the winner of Woodbury/Rosemount.

No surprises in other scores.

Most likely scenario for semi's is Woodbury vs. Rochester and Eagan vs. Lakeville South.

Lakeville South beat Eagan late in the district season as did Rochester beat Woodbury.

Still have picks as:
1)Woodbury
2)Lakeville South
3)Eagan

River Heights pulling off a big win over Lakeville South! Up next - Eagan. Can they do it against Eagan? How did they fare during the season?

Woodbury looks like they are on a roll since their last loss with some big wins.

Semi's are Woodbury vs Rochester - predict Woodbury 5-1 over Rochester, Eagan vs River Heights - predict Eagan 4-1 over River Heights.

Some good games will be had in the consolation bracket to earn that precious 3rd seed for Regions.

Lakeville south outshoots River heights 29-10. At one point the shots were 17-3 south, and river heights was winning 2-1.

Woodbury lost to rochester 3-2 in districts. Don't think they deserve their 2nd rank in state.

We will have to wait and see how Saturday morning games go in District 8. Rochester played Woodbury tough in Rochester a few weeks ago and their goalie was very good. Game in Woodbury a month ago, Woodbury outshot Rochester 3 to 1, goalie played well again.

Goalies can make a difference in post season play. Take a look at Apple Valley's goals against in District 6 district tourney. 3 shutouts in a row!!

Woodbury went through a tough stretch with 19 games over a 4 week period of time - went 16-2-1 with losses to Centennial and Rochester in the latter part of this stretch. Should be rested and ready to go on Saturday morning!!!

Other game is interesting as well. River Heights as the underdog against Eagan. Eagan looks like they have been playing well over the last part of the season and I think their depth will be the key in this game. River Heights is scrappy and if their goalie plays well like in previous win over Lakeville South, they could pull the upset!!

Eagan: 6

River Heights: 2

Eagan and woodbury move on to regions.

Tonights Games:

Lakeville South vs. River Heights

Hastings vs. Rochester.

The 2 winners play tommorow to go to regions.

Rochester went down bad against Woodbury. Not even close! Rochester outshot 46-9, lost 6-0.
Woodbury hit 4-5 pipes, missed open nets. Willie15 - that is why you are not ranked in the top 20!!
Woodbury-Eagan matchup will be a great game. They have played some good games over the year and being in Eagan's home rink could help Eagan.
Woodbury playing at top level!

Fight for 3rd - going to be a toss up between Lakeville South, River Heights and maybe Rochester, if they can come back from their whooping this morning!

Nice work Hastings and River Heights!!!

No 2 teams I would rather see lose the Lakeville and Rochester, biggest whinners in D8.

Hockey 74 thought they were a top 5 team that got no love. A few of us thought they were maybe getting too much hype - mostly from 74. In the end a good team, not a great team ,can't peak in January and expect to be a factor come State Tourney time. Nice to see the underdog prevail once in a while
