VFW Bantam A State Tourney

Post by nahc »

Lakeville North beat Eagan last night 2-1 to advance to the State Tourney in Thief River Falls. Does anyone have info on the other qualifiers?

Do some teams choose not to play, and not try to advance to VFW state?
Can teams play in Bantam A state in Richfield next weekend, AND play in VFW state?

Yes , State is next weekend at Richfield and VFW state is the following. If you play in the VFW league You have too play in the playoffs. If you do not play in the playoffs you are out for a few years.

Seriously...how were these brackets determined!? Upper bracket is weak compared to lower bracket. And, BJ now has to play Centennial to get a chance to play ER in semi's.

loveitorleaveit - Centennial does not have a bye; BJ just has an extra game. 9 team bracket??

I believe they start by seeding the teams that play in that regions VFW League during the season. Then they add teams that may have played in a different VFW League or a team that may not have even played in a VFW League. Sometimes a late add to the Tourney. Can end up a little awkward. VFW League, regional playoffs and State Tournament, is Bantam A only.

Woodbury plays North St. Paul for one of the semis for District 4 tonight and Moundsview takes on White Bear Lake in the other semis.

Winners play tomorrow night at 8:50 at Highland Ice Arena for the championship and District #4 State Tournament Entrant.

Titan, I understand what you are sayin, but in the end the winner of the upper bracket still has to play the winner of the tougher lower bracket to advance. Coon Rapids faces Elk River for the Championship game

Any chance that MSBN will have coverage from Thief River Falls? Just a bit too far to drive for someone with no player involved!
