Advanced
Boys, it is not too difficult to find the tryout schedule. Lets get focused here ....come on!!

Not a big deal...but it is the Advanced program. Section 1A/1AA 16's had their tryouts last weekend (2- 2 hour scrimmages) in Rochester. Pretty hokey process....there were about 50 players and 7 goalies. I can see how good evaluators might determine players (although picking the top 18 from 50 would be tough with that limited timeframe. Even throwing out the top 5-8 and the bottom 5-8) but the goalies would be almost impossible. I counted 9 Shattuck skaters in the mix. There were about 8 guys that really stood out to me. Pardon the spelling but I do know Osteberg from Lakeville South, Brady S. from Lakeville North, and the 3 Lourdes freshmen were ones I recognized. The others I was not sure where they were from. Shattuck kids only looked o.k. with the exception of Pieper.
Have not clue who made the team as they posted the roster by numbers. My son did not make it but had a blast.

I thought both Shattuck kids were the best ones there, also the lakeville kids were good too. But Pieper and the other kid were the best ones at that tryoutGretzky9 wrote:Not a big deal...but it is the Advanced program. While there were 7 goalies at 1A/1AA, there really were 6 for 1 spot plus an alternate. Kautz from Century was a lock (even though he didn't play very well during the weekend) based on a superior season. IMHO they got at least one right, the alternate is a kid from St. Peter who looked good. Don't know who the other selected goalie was.

the advanced 18 festival is for players who have aged out of select 17's but are not eligible for the great 8 (92 juniors). There are 4 teams - section 1 A & AA / section 3 A & AA, section 4 A & AA / 7 A & AA, sections 5 & 8 A & AA, and sections 2 & 6 A & AA.
the first round concludes tomorrow (sun) each team having played 3 games. One "all-star" team is chosen based on the weekends play. This team plays in Plymouth along with a team chosen from the great 8 tourny and teams from wisc. mich. & no dakota. This tourny coincides with the select 16's / 17's final 54.
Should a player advance all the way through the process he will have paid $420.00 for 7 hockey games or $60.00 / game while the parents will have paid $80.00 to watch those 7 games. Meanwhile the coach and his 5 assistants and 2 g.m.'s all get nice apparel. To save costs, the tournament people suggest outstate players stay with friends
or relatives . . . . . . . . . . . or sleep under a bridge.

Sullivan is EP's next big scorer, he tore it up in Bantams this year with more goals than games I think and should be big for Eagles varsity next season.welikehockey231 wrote:Section 6 Advanced 16 Team is:

Fenske played D all last season. I wonder if this means he is changing positions.SWPrez wrote:Section 6 Advanced 16 Team is:

They have 4 seniors leaving and this guy can score. They had problems balancing scoring lines last year so having Sullivan go 2nd or 3rd line will help that out for sure.welikehockey231 wrote:Tough to crack nthat line up wouldnt you think?????HockeyMN1 wrote:Sullivan is EP's next big scorer, he tore it up in Bantams this year with more goals than games I think and should be big for Eagles varsity next season.welikehockey231 wrote:Section 6 Advanced 16 Team is:

He was the only Bantam skater to make Select 16's and should help out a lot just as a sophomore next year. You'll hear a lot about the Sullivan's from EP in the near future, when John's a senior they will have three Sullivan boys on varsity.welikehockey231 wrote:Tough to crack nthat line up wouldnt you think?????HockeyMN1 wrote:Sullivan is EP's next big scorer, he tore it up in Bantams this year with more goals than games I think and should be big for Eagles varsity next season.welikehockey231 wrote:Section 6 Advanced 16 Team is:
