The Fergus Falls High School girls hockey team will be coached by
Matt Koalska this upcoming season. Don't know why Brian Vatnsdal decided to hang it up again, but he was out of coaching for awhile before the girls team needed a coach. He picked up the position and coached his daughter for a few years with some great success.

Know some parents from the area and it was not a surprise to them that their coach resigned as his daughter graduated this year and he has a younger son who also plays hockey and he wants to see him play, too. He stepped in when the girls HS program was having difficulties with coach turnover due to teacher cuts a few years back. He was involved with the girls as youth, too. He did have nice success and is very well liked in the area. Matt Koalska's wife was the assistant last year and a former FFHS hockey player and is anticipated to continue, too.
