A basement, garage or other open area at home loaded with a net, backstop, stick handling balls, heavy weight pucks, 100-200 regular pucks, stick handling balls and good music!

Relatively cheap, fun and beats video games all day long! :D

the FHIT [now known as MAP I think] program at St. Thomas and Super Rink is absolutely wonderful if you use it like a fiend [its expensive]; and you will hear about Velocity in Eden Prairie, or Hat Trick in St. Louis Park, or 1st Athlete in Edina, or Minnesota Made in Edina or whatever program, but after having three kids go through alot of hockey, I agree with the previous post, the backyard with a goal, shooting board, a big net behind the goal and a bucket of pucks is your best bet. FHIT [or name any program] will get you on the JV team, the repetitive stick handling and shooting work at home, in the garage, basement, up at the park will get you on the Varsity team. And it is not expensive.

Couldn't agree more. They have a terrific program and it is ridicously expensive. They constantly talk about how they develop players but what they really do is go after the best players just so they can brag about how they develop them when they end up doing what they were already on the path to do; be a good player. Its a good gig and they have perfected the art of making money off of hockey parents. There are times where even players who don't do Fhit will end up on their list of developed talent because at sometime they were probably in the Schwan rink so they take credit for their development.

Don't get me wrong, for $2000 you do get a chance to skate and lift weights with other good players and they do offer one of the most comprehensive programs with lots of hours to choose from. It is just their shamelss promotion that can be annoying.

I don't know...Every EP senior (and every other player for that matter) goes to Velocity. That includes Leddy, Rau, etc. So I guess it worked out for them.
EP two out of three.

A simple gym membership and desire to get better is all you need.

work a ton of speed, agility, and explosiveness on the offseason. Shoot/Stickhandle in teh garage. and get the ice time when you can get it.

You dont need to take out huge loans just to send kids to big time schools.

If they want to get better, they will
